Fair point, but hare scrambles are sorta the MX version of Enduros, and therefore an acceptable destination for Byzantine era DH guys.

But seriously, it sounds like your Enduro is getting a lot of miles in and around Walden Ridge, so I think you should come out of mountain bike retirement on June 22. I'll even supply the Fightin' Cock.

I thought I asked about how the Pisgah Enduro was run last year and Butch (or somebody) mentioned it was a Strava thing run over like one month or something???? Not the same plan for 2013? Is it gonna be an actual weekend specific even this year?

Yeah Jay, two completely different events (although they do share the name). Last year was a course layed out on Strava that you had the month to ride as many times as you like and capture your best time. This year it is a one-day, timed event with 3 descents. The event hasn't been officially announced yet, but I'm pretty sure the permit is for 6/22.

Thanks for these. Do you know if Beech will be open other times for riding? I really want Beech to become a place to ride like Snowshoe has.

UPDATE: There might be a change on the first Beech date that would acommodate the Pisgah Enduro. The staff at Beech will let us know for sure on Thursday. We'll post up then.

I am told it's been moved, I'll post when I get the email from her confirming on Thursday. It's not looking good for me, I might have to miss round one..... I am supposed to be in Florida for a family thing.

Just let the family know you need a day to ride with your Florida freinds...Or a half of day.

Really? There's a conflict with dates and people are seeming working together with date changes? It's happen twice this year, so far anyway, thanks for working together so we can all enjoy the events. Plan it out, maybe for two years with constant dates and events will flow and hopefully grow with benefits.

Planning ahead and having consistency is the key to success in any business. It will not prosper and continue to grow if people cannot depend on scheduling or the initial plan of the series to hold the events that are in place without change or cancellation of an event.

This should be the focus of any race promoter from day 1.

Note the change to the Beech Schedule:
June - Race Date Deleted
August 18 - DH Added
All other dates are the same. These are set in stone dates, so I was told

Other Additions:
April 21 - Second race date for TTC that was released this week
May 18 - Second race date in the BMCC King of the Lake Series in Wilkesboro

So, there'll be a month gap between ETSU and Snowshoe, and then nearly a month-and-half gap between that and the next DH race (which is again at Snowshoe). Meh, not ideal but oh well.

If you guys don't visit or haven't seen yet on Facebook..... Massanutten has been cancelled.

"Massanutten's 2013 YEE-HA! downhill bike race has been cancelled. March snow storms have left the slopes covered in snow later than usual. We have decided against re-scheduling the race to a later date due to a busy resort schedule and existing race dates at other venues. Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope you will come race here in the future."

I understand having to cancel because of late snowstorms, but no rescheduling? Here is what that really means: "We made a boatload of cash this winter, and even though our race is a great annual tradition in the Southeast, we don't care enough about you to even bother putting it on at a later date. But come back next year!"

Oh well, this just means another Snowshoe race for me.

Hey guys, we are really bummed here at Massanutten to have to cancel this event. We enjoy being one of the early events each year, but this year our timing didn't work out. We contacted the staff that we need to host the race about a later date, but we weren't able to line up a date that didn't already have a race going on.

I know we cant all be Steve Peat but I believe it was him who once said something to the effects of "You are all whining about wet trail? This is DOWNHILL racing isn't it?" Oh well...

just throwing it out there, but would there be substantial interest in a Windrock Race to replace the Yee-Haw weekend? something Non-sanctioned, and all pro riders will appear as Luke Skywalker on the results sheet, because as this goes to show you, the national/international organizations hate gravity racers. Maybe throw in some old fashioned flat turn dual slalom sat evening at the campground?
