Does any one have an idea where these might be available outside of a bike shop? I've called around and can't seem to find any locally. I'm talking about just the barb fittings, like this:

Is there some kind of automotive equivalent or other equivalent that anyone knows about?

Also, 40 bucks for a bleed kit? That's dumb, there is no more than 8 dollars in material in any of those bleed kits.

Formula and Juicy's are not compatible. I own bleed kits for both and there are no compatible parts. However, both are too expensive for what you get.

That being said, I bought a bunch of the Formula barbs from them because no bike shops carry them.
(The barbs cannot be re-used no matter how carefully you remove the sheath). YMMV

I bought my bleed kit online for below £10 just give it a search. I think I got mine from ebay.
And the fitting I could only find them coming from united states with a small search. Hope this helped :thumb:

FYI:
Can confirm that an Avid Brake bleed kit works just fine on my Formula brakes. The Oro's at least, I assume other style Formula brakes are the same.

Can also confirm that it was a giant PITA.

Oro brakes can use Avid fittings, newer style R1/One/RX use a different, narrower fitting. Straight from the source.

Bleeding is the same as any modern brake...goal is to remove bubbles. Use fresh DOT4 fluid, open the M/C, reset the caliper pistons (usually need to be cleaned as well), push fluid from caliper, close caliper port, bleed off M/C as usual. The bleed is much more critical on modern low volume brakes...if it feels mushy, then there is air in there.

I've also used the Avid bleed kit to bleed Formula brakes.

Though on these older Formula brake lever, we did have to machine down the knurling on the fitting that screws into the bleed port on the lever.

These were Formula The One brakes.

We've performed one-man braking system bleeding often times through the years by getting this lines from the braking system bleeder device right into a modest package together with a few braking system water inside it.
