Black Market 2011: The new ROAM

those drop outs look like corsair...

Looks real good! any specs?
I Bet Pablo Tafoya is the master mind after the design. He worked out the Killswitch with Carter, and this frame looks very similar. I'm still digging the net for some specs, all I got was the pic from the Ride It Mag blog. As soon as I get something, I'll add it to the first post.

do i need to carry torx wrenches with me?
I don't think so, unless you forget to tighten the bolts properly at home...

Seriously, more and more shown bikes at Eurobike this year are sporting Torx screws and bolts. I guess they distribute the stress in a better way than the old fashioned Allen ones. Oh, and let's not forget the innovation-per-se factor, which states you should change something in every product every season, even when that change would be totally irrelevant for the product itself.

right here -> .
this is one of the nicest looking single pivot bikes out there.....imo. looking forward to hearing more about these and hopefully an air shock will fit in there w/out any problems.

Torx just makes sense... unless your frame design requires one to use a rounded ball head hex key to get at a bolt to begin with.... and, if so, you're just setting yourself up for eventual problems/failure due to owner/mech. error in trying to tighten it properly...

oh snap. mine just showed up this week. stoked.

for those curious about geometry, since there is not much out there, and the stuff that is out there is sort of all over the place and conflcting...

large roam, 180mm fork, zero stack headset, 26" wheels / dropouts, minion dhf 2.5/2.35 tires:

17" to 17.5" CS
65.3 HA
13.5" BB
24.0 TT (effective)

you can also flip a pin in the upper linkage to add ~.5" of bb height and add 1deg of HA.

also, a few other things i found out during the build, that was not widely available:
+this first batch uses a 55mm headset bottom cup, not the more standard 56mm cup.
+8 x 22mm shock hardware on both ends

the cnc work on the frame is absolutely gorgeous.
the rear triangle is just about as stiff as my tr250, but the frame is a pound lighter.
