Been stumped on this one and it's a stupid problem.
Need to find the proper brake adapter for Fox 40 w/ Avid 200mm rotor w/ Codes and CPS hardware?

This one puts the caliper too high by a few (3mm) so it works fine with the old CS3 203mm rotors but not with the new 200mm rotor.
It even states CPS - http://www.bicyclewarehouse.com/product/avid-cps-front-rear-mounting-bracket-140mm-is-rear-160mm-is-front-sku-br2030-qc30.htm
The caliper contacts the adapter if I mount without the CPS hardware.
I've tried about 3 adapters now, can't see to figure this one out alone.
Any help?

Exactly what rotor are you using? Is it the HS1? If so it really begs the question of why Avid would use a 200mm rotor when literally everyone else is using a 203mm rotor.

Yep, HS1. Why the change, I don't know... but they can't even tell me which adapter is correct. They're finally moving away from those stupid CPS washers but the current Codes haven't lost them yet.
Guess it's time to bust out the grinder.

Just file away as suggested above, you only need to lose 1.5mm.

The 40 uses a 160mm adaptor (for a 203mm rotor), so technically the 'correct' adaptor would be for a 157mm rotor and therefore non-existent. Bit stupid of avid to go back to 200mm, especially when most brands that used to run that size have finally changed over to 203.

If you really want to find the correct adaptor, formula should make the part (as they used to make a 200mm rotor, and it had to work on the 40) - but it'll be more expensive than a few minutes of careful filing.

How has no one said MOAR SHIMZ?

Really though, I keep a box with maybe a dozen random adapters in it. I can usually find one that works. Some front/rear are interchangeable by a 1" rotor difference. Avid adapters usually are a bit small compared to Hayes/Shimano to make up for their spherical washers.

Right now I could very well be running a rear Avid 6" adapter on my front 203mm Hayes.

Your face.
How about this?

**** YOUR SHOCK REDUCERS

Why the hell can't companies just use one width of reducer for shocks? Why in the hell can't there just be a standardized width for the front, and one for the back link? Now Im sitting here with a goddamed file shaving down some reducers trying to hack them down to size.

I know people say the bike industry is stupid, and that other industries are just AS stupid, but man I have yet to see as much rampant stupidity and silly standards as the bike industry.

I hear you there. And how about rear hub spacing and wheel size? Remember way back in 2011 when there was 135mm/150mm and 26"/29" and QR or solid axle? Now we've got 142,157, 650B, QR 15...and who knows what's next.
