XO Trail Caliper and Elixir CR Lever?

Has anyone given this combo a try? I'm an avid braker so any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's the situation:

Have an older pair of Elixir CR's.
Scored a pair of take off XO Trail World Cups (no bite point adjustment, tool less reach adjustment knob hanging out the inside of the lever)
The reach adjustment knob makes contact with my shifter body (grip shift) and therefore pushes the levers too far inward for my liking

Thinking of trying the XO trail (4 piston) calipers mated to my Elixir CR levers:
+ gains me both the 4 pistons and the bit point adjustment
- I don't get to use the matchmaker clamp with my reverb remote, which was one of the original drivers for picking up the new brakes (moving the reverb remote closer since the grip shift pushes everything else so far inboard)

Not sure if the displaced fluid volume is any different b/c the XO Trails are a 4 piston design? If so, would I have problems with getting enough movement at the pads to brake (and retract). Hoping someone has given this a try and can save me having to keep cutting back my brake lines and buying the barbs and olives

Or should I just try and re-sell the XO Trails? Or will someone try and convince me to swap to trigger shifters?

Just got off the phone with SRAM (after talking to the shop I used to work at) and apparently the Elixir and XO Trail pairing should work just fine. If not, they sell a conversion kit that will change the set from tool-less reach adjust to tooled (getting rid of the adjustment knob).
