subaru dealers don't allow test drives in their brz though scion did let me, it was fun in sport mode the shift gates had been closed more and its electronic acceleration was more assertive as is their clutch so fine with six gears too. Did it mention it has black?

Oh yes I drive a miata because it hasn't any affiliation with wartime beside the usa dropping a nut on japan. Everything else is history supporters not changers. Like the changer in office now, support flash forward.

Hahaha. Right, Suby is selling these w/o doing any test drives.
If you put on a clean shirt, any dealer will let you drive just about any car on the lot.
I'm not a very clean cut guy either.

a lot of dealers try and do that but if you make a fuss about it and tell them you are going elsewhere, theyll usually always give you a test drive

its kinda a wierd list. i know. i just like the looks of the CLA, altho the performance prob sucks. the ultra low drag coefficient is interesting tho.

id personally would never buy a car without a test drive. i hate car shopping tho. i feel like the salesman is always trying to pull a fast one.

That's because they are...

If PSP is anything in person like he is on here, I wouldn't let him test drive a car either.

Nothing wrong with weird lists. We cross shopped a TDI Jetta wagon against a CTS wagon.

yeah, the CLA does look pretty good actually and its a Merc for $30k (although very stripped apparenty.) a 200hp turbo car could be peppy and im sure theres a lot of untapped power.

and yes, they are trying to pull one over on you

Tires are way narrow and hold it back in the road courses. It goes slower than it should with everything else being equal. Decent wheels and tires with some width make it significantly faster in courses. It's a neat car though. I'd rather go for the WRX/EVO.

CLA is front wheel drive, and the AWD version won't be fast when you add the drag to that small engine. I thought about this too, but I'd rather have a BMW 128 with some slight lowering or "sport" package. Front wheel drive sucks for anything other than poor weather on flat ground.

How about a used Porsche Cayman? Could probably get a smoking deal on one.

I'd easily get one over the 370z or the S4. And is it still true that the GTR's warranty is void if you use launch control? That seems like a car that would get seriously flogged by anyone who drives it.

Demomonkey on here has a BRZ... I'm sure he'll be along shortly.
Yeah, Ive owned one since December. Initially I was a little dissappointed in the power but once the engine freed up it was a lot different. A mate who owns the Toyota 86 version had his dynoed at delivery and also at 5000km. There was a 15% gain at KW to the wheels!! An insane difference. Once broken in they are amazing.

For reference my last Japanese car was a 300HP Subaru JDM Sti Impreza and I now have a B7 Audi S4 with 340HP parked next to the BRZ - yes both the STi and S4 faster in 80% of the situations you find yourself in BUT nowhere near as much fun as the BRZ. Around corners this thing is fuggin sick. It gets tracked and B road caned all the time.

This is THE best car you buy for the money in terms of FUN - and that fellow monkeys are what sports car are all about.

Here is mine. Ive swapped out the suspension for 40 way adjustable coil overs and have 18X9.5 Enkei wheels running 245/35 PZero tyres and have other bits done - strut braces and the like. Planning a full engine back exhaust swap next.

If you are thinking about one and have twisty roads around - buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Awesome choice on the wheels, the cost/look/weight ratio of those wheels are the best around. I had a set on my JDM Integra Type R in 15" and they were like 9 lbs or something ridiculous. You corrected the biggest criticism I've heard of the BRZ, the tires. Every mag/show I've seen blasted the tires as the worst part of the car, a few even swapped tires out to give the car a fair shake against other cars. I've loved the car since I heard about it's inception, I'm hoping in a year or two when I'm ready for a project car (i.e have a garage) the used prices will be pretty reasonable. Right now the car at the top of my project list is an S2000, followed by an LS FD swap.

since you could by two BRZs for the price of one M3, your comparison is pretty useless.
He's referring to a clapped-out E36 M3, undoubtedly. Always makes sense to compare a 15-year old POS with an M badge to a new car with a warranty.

Yeah, the stock tyres were beyond bad. Fine if you want to go sideways at 30mph but my preference is to take the same corner at 70mph and gripping like a limpet. I ummed and arrred about an s2000. It was on my list but finding a quality second hand one is hard and the warranty (and buzz) that comes with a brand new car was too tempting. And the styling of the 86/BRZ is IMO more agressive in stock form than the S2000.

The cool thing about this car is how fast the tuner market is putting stuff out. We are spoiled for choice and there is good local supply and support here in NZ.
