Hey Joeg, since you were helping us out and keeping track, I just thought I should let you know that I received my V10c frame last Monday April 8th. Thanks for keeping us informed! Just waiting for a hub conversion kit now (that new 157mm standard fixed a problem that didn't exist in my opinion).

Thanks for the update. Agreed on the 157 thing - there was no real problem with 150, but it does bring DH hubs into line with all the 142 systems, and allows the use of the same der hanger (and direct mount hanger) used on every other VPP bike we make, so it seemed worth it while throwing down for the carbon swingarm tooling.
I hope you're rolling shortly.

Can I specify a DM hanger with my V10 frame or must I buy it seperately?

Got my frame and have a DM hanger on order! So what's the prescribed method for removing and installing the thru-axle? I hope there's a quicker way to get it off than removing the hanger bolt to access the 5mm hex in the end of the axle.
Also, which chainstay protectors go in which spots?

Edit: I looked at photos and figured out the frame protectors. I also weighed them at 140g! I also found that to install/remove the axle you stick a 5mm hex through the 6mm hanger bolt to turn the axle. The frame came with a Fox shock manual, a really brief SC shock setup guide, and a catalog but a more complete frame manual with info on the pivot hardware, thru-axle, ect would be nice.

Though I don't have it with me to check I thought my V10.4c came with Ti bolts in the upper and lower linkage, shock mounts, and axle pinch. This V10.5c looks to have Ti upper link and shock mount bolts but steel in the lower link, axle expander, and fork bumpers. Is this the case? I've already swapped black aluminum bolts into the frame bumpers and axle expander and when I get both frames together I'll swap the old Ti lower link bolts into the new frame if these have changed.

I'm wondering if anyone around 200lbs with the 2013 has dialed in a solid base tune with the stock fox shock, and if so please post it up.

I've been running mine in 8.5' mode with a #450 spring and find it jumps nose heavy. I know the answer to that is usually slow down rebound but I don't think I can run it any slower. I'm running 5 clicks from full slow right now and think the shock would start packing up for sure if I slowed it down anymore. I've been out in the bike park 5 days in a row trying to get it dialed but just can't get it to feel right. I'm actually trying to speed up my fork rebound now to see if that will compensate.

Any base tunes along with, rider weight, spring rate, and travel setting with the stock RC4 I would be interested to hear.

More LSC will make it wallow less and then pop less off jumps. In the 8.5" setting try 1/2LSC, 1/3HSC, 1 turn BO, 160psi. For your weight in the 10" setting get a 500lb spring and 2/3LSC, 1/2HSC, 2 turns BO, 165psi. While playing with rebound get the fork faster until it skitters out in flat turns or bounces too much off bumps. Set the rear a little slower than the front.

Changing the bottom out 1 turn was a game changer! Really feels completely different and much more tunable now! Thanks.

Glad it's working for you. I use a Vivid Air but have been tuning my friend's RC4 equipped V10. Not an easy shock to dial in due to the overlapping effects of the LSC, HSC, pressure, and volume adjustments. We put everything in the middle and started fiddling from there. I save the 8.5" setting for dirtjumps and trail riding with climbs and want it quite firm for that. For everything else I like the 10" setting and focus my tuning energy there.

Yea, I figured I would get it dialed in for 8.5' mode then try 10' to compare and decide which I like better. After changing the bottom out I feel like the bike came alive for me so i'm not in too much of a hurry to switch it over now, lol.

This bike is so light it's the first DH bike I've been able to ride like a regular mountain bike. After a spring of using it for XC rides when I showed up to the Angel Fire Enduro and saw how gnarly the tracks were I decided the best way to avoid mechanicals and flat tires on my enduro bike was to race my DH bike. There was only a little climbing but a fair amount of flat pedaling and all the little accelerations out of turns. No mechanicals or crashes, 13th place in pro, and the only rider (Am or Pro) on a DH bike.

It's pretty funny isn't it?

With AM wheels, tires, and brakes, you're looking at 30-31lb without any exotic parts. Pretty crazy.

My own V10C is under 34lb without a single XC/AM/roadie component - still using M810 brakes, dual ply wire DHF and tubes. That's with a Vivid Air though. Some may consider that a compromise, but I like it. Throw on a roadie cassette and some Formula R0's and it should touch 33lb... Yikes.

The Vivid Air is not a compromise,. That shock flat out performs. I wish Canecreek would give a Vivid Air base tune for the V10. THere are a number of us running this option now.

I agree it's pretty crazy. I have DHF dual ply wire beads, 40 float, DBair ,all DH parts (aside from dura ace cassette) and my V10c is 31.6 Lbs.

Bad ass!

How do you like the R0's? Compare well to Saint M810?
