Lolololol pinkbike-staff actually downvoted "I sell my demo"-comments. No way these got down from ~ 100+ to zero in 5 minutes.

Yes, he left TWR.
I'm sure he left for $$$, pro mtb careers aren't the most lucrative so if he got a chance at a big paycheck after two years of dominance u can't really blame him. Maybe he will adapt to the Demo or maybe Spec will build him a custom version that works better for him. Gee is now multiple seasons on GT and seems to have his ride dialed now.

How about big Brook on flats? I always chear for the flats guys as its what I've run for 20 yrs of DH. Was Sam on flats too?

just watched the whole replay on my phone. The feed was flawless. Wouldn't work on my computer though...

Oh, and nice job Steve Smith. Kickass.

I don't know anything about tv production, but couldn't you have gopros mounted on trees all the way down the course to at least fill in the blanks between the "real" cameras?

Whatever filler cameras are chosen up would need to be networked, so a no-go for gopro on that. Neat idea though. I think they do something like this for ski-racing... static remote cameras that serve as filler between the manned cameras.

Someone should get on that...

Bulldog!
I love that dude!
Serious crazy riding style.
So what happened to Gwin? I can't believe a guy that consistent is that much back only because changing his frame?!

How 'bout Manon Carpenter? - obviously the real deal. Picture where she could be a few years from now.

Especially when you consider that she was probably still feeling pretty grim today

I was really impressed last year that she was able to come into the North American rounds with a broken arm and avoid injuring herself more while taking away a respectable amount of points. I have to think a win is coming her way if she stays healthy this season.

The demo bashing is kinda funny. I hope people aren't serious. All of the bikes are unreal...... It comes down to the rider. Sam had awesome results on the demo and actually did one place better on it last year when he was out of shape.
Not to mention Troy had a pretty solid result considering.

flat pedals are dead.

But in seriousness, pretty grim day. Definitely bummed that Gwin didn't win, hopefully it was an off day and not having problems getting used to the bike, gonna be bummed out if he spends the entire season struggling

edit: also, because the internet doesn't pick up sarcasm, the pedal comment was sarcasm for you boys and girls.

It was ridiculous to see Bulldog making up two seconds over Hill on the motorway. Absolutely stunned about his performance.
The time on the roadbike is paying off.

Martin Whiteboy will laugh like the devil himself at the moment.

Going all the way back to the Yeti days, has Gwin ever finished so poorly at the WC level without a crash?
Even with crashing, he's had much better results. Head scratcher for sure..

Was Richie Rude even at the race? Probably should not have pit him on my Dirt fantasy team.
He was, and for some reason he's still in Elite (despite being a junior), when all of the other Juniors are now in a separate Juniors category. Anyone know what's going on with that?

Oh and while I can see why people might question the Demo after Gwin's performance, I'd like to remind everyone that Adam Brayton (who has never really finished a world cup in the top-25) won last weekend's BDS race at Innerleithen on one, beating a lot of top World Cup names in the process.

Really weird if he didn't have a mechanical or anything else. You have to go back to 09/08 to find him out of the top 20 at a ec-level race without a crash or mechanical (that I know of):

I know what happened to Gwin. They must have worked with McLaren to update the Demo.

(I say this as a distraught McLaren fan)

That's racing! It is as simple as that.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Hapens all the time.

Great for GEE that he finally won another wordcup in Fort Bill!

I'm pretty sure that I read juniors can choose to race as seniors now. I would guess that if you do it will be for the whole season and not on a race by race basis except maybe for the World Champs?

It's kind of ironic Gwin and sponsors put out a video saying he is the fastest in the world and the one to beat.....and then he gets beat by 19 other people in one race....

Im anxious to see what happens in the next race...

^^^ Yep..Gwin was always rumored to be very humble and certainly not cocky..and I'm sure that quote is sligtly out of context..but I'm also sure it is haunting him at the moment. I don't think it's shocking that he ended up off the podium, but I do think it's shocking that he was 9+ sec out! Even on 4:30+ course that is a sh1t load for him.

Good for Gee though. He deserved it as he is a total badass. Anyone that races at that level AND mixes it up in the Rampage is someone to be respected. Phenominal overall rider.

The top five ranked Juniors from 2012 were given the option of competing in Elite or Junior category for 2013. Richie elected to compete in Elite for the World Cups. Under the rules for 2013 World Championships he will be required to race as a Junior.
