God if I knew so many 'muricans will get so butthurt after the Gwin loss I'd have never said I wanted someone else to win. This is more annoying than the **** yeah america we had for the last 2 years. Stop flinging dung and talk about the race.

I'm also curious why no one speaks about Gee winning it? He won worlds there with a very good run and he seems on form. What is interesting is will Minnaar be far behind him? For the last few season they were almost clones in terms of performance.

Quite the opposite, having a home boy win the last two years was a refreshing change but it did start to get a little boring. I was so pumped Sunday watching Hill, Sik Mick and Bulldog's runs. Love all 3 of those guys. Gee and Minaar are always fast but I find them less exciting to watch, kind of like Gwin. Here's hoping Hill keeps me on the edge of my seat come Sunday.

simmer down.

I've never considered style one bit when watching a race run. Smooth maybe, but style means nothing in a race run to me.

Style is also subjective, the stop watch is not.

I prefer racing, not because I am fast, but because you either went faster than the other guy or you didn't.

Unlike something where judges are involved.....
You can't be serious.

I replied to a post stating who someone thought was more impressive. I clearly indicated 'IN MY OPINION' and now I've got to read your interjected drivel talking down to me like I don't understand what racing is, all in the while you're stating what YOU prefer and watch out for? If anybody needs to simmer down it's the person typing on your keyboard. And probably me as well. Hardy har har.

Now, on to the topic of racing, hopefully.

Gee seems to have the best chance at it. Wins before, comfortable in the roots and rough, coming off a win, fit, etc etc. I'd see him, Hart, Bulldog, Gwin or Smith winning it this weekend. We'll see what Sam pulls out, but I expect him on the podium one way or another. This is looking to be a GREAT season.

Edit: Looks like Sam's doing the pink bike for a cause thing again this race. Bike looks sweet

Relax. It's the internet.

I'd love to see hart win :gasp: I like his style :gasp:

In response to americans getting butt hurt about Gwin Gwinning all the time and then not gwinning.....meh, its always cool to root for a guy from your home town. Hell, I love it when people from my home state win or podium at events even if its intro class. I thought everyone was kinda like that?

Anyway, I am certain its been posted, but if it hasn't the course preview with this dude talking the whole way down is always fun.

I love seeing an American be competitive at the top level of the sport again, but I hated the way he handled himself in the off season, and now he's with specialized, the most corporate force in mountain biking. It's hard to not have a different opinion on his race standings. I'm rather excited to see Brook take the reins from his former team and start winning...

you're one of the most grouchy people i've ever seen on the internet - you hated the way he handled himself in the off season? They discussed a raise based on his performance over the past two years. Then whitely sent him the same contract that he'd signed two years ago. He moved on.

I don't own a speci, but I know several people who are very happily employed with them, as well as many many many many bike shops who are very happy/proud to carry the brand. Corporate? If it makes literally buckets of people money doing what they love to do, providing really solid bikes, I don't see much room to hate. Yeah yeah, they get touchy about other people making money off stuff they've paid to patent, but its not exactly as if they're patent trolls.

Also norbar, I don't think gwin losing has anything to do with the "gwin vs hill" discussion when it comes to VDS. They both had epic runs, and the comparison is natural. As gwin said, thats racing - you get some good ones and some bad ones. Also, a lot of ridemonkey members are from california/socal, which is where gwins from. Hard not to be a fanboy with that being the case.

Also, i'm not quite ready to call off gwin because of one bad race. I don't think winning 70% of the races in the past 2 seasons was a fluke, and I'm willing to bet that he's got more wins in him.

One thing about World Cups is that when one rider gets hot on the top spot, it takes to a LOT to break their momentum. Kovarik got on a tear of wins, Hill did it, Gwin did it. When one rider hits stride, they are a freight train across multiple events.

Are you sure? I was under the impression he wanted clothing and other endorsement deals that Trek wouldn't or hadn't provided. in addition, why did he sign anything indicating he was going to ride, then change his mind at the last minute? He Lebron Jamesed it, and I don't appreciate assholes, I guess.

Did you really just say specialized weren't patent trolls? They're the worst. They will literally sue somebody solely to prevent them from being successful by using litigation as a back breaker. The road guys they sued because Specialized thought they had rights to their private designs? Specialized actually lost in court. Stratos, who licensed their ID damper? Crushed under the weight of trying to fight that battle before ever getting to court. Or when they sued "Epic designs alaska" for trademark infringement? http://forums.mtbr.com/california-norcal/f-u-specialized-going-after-epic-designs-adventure-cycling-gear-581818.html Specialized are the worst company when it comes to litigation, outpacing even dw-link. They're great for bringing "cheap" bikes to the masses, but they could be a significant touch less douchey about it.

I can say you're not correct about the clothing and endorsement deals. It's not my place to share details, but that one definitely isn't true.

Gwin is a nice guy and I wish him well. He did seem a little pouty-pants in the specialized ft. bill interview and that was a turn off, but everyone has their bad days. Anyways, even though I grew up in SoCal, no fanboy here.

Rooting for Bulldog and Hill this weekend. It would be so awesome to see Hill at the top of his game again. I think he's on his way and will be on the podium Sunday.

I'm curious why no one speaks about Gee's semi-skinsuit at Ft. Bill. That shirt was tighter than a roadie's.
I saw a video on pinkbike where the racers were giving some guy **** for his tight jersey. Wasn't Gee though. Does anyone know what the actual rule is?

It will be news, if Gwin switches to large demo without the extra seat stays!

or switches to his old haro magnum!
