Riding the baggage carousel.
There is (or was?) a Deschutes Public house downtown.

Off the top of my head; the tourist trip, in no particular order:
1. Powell's
2. Multnomah Falls
3. McMenamins. Edgefield or Kennedy School
4. OMSI
5. Beer! Seriously, it's really hard to find a bad brewery in P-town.

NORCAL is the hizzle
Go to Apex for one of the best beer selections anywhere. 50 taps (or so) and a big bottle selection. :thumb:

And if you're into that sort of thing, for a slice of heaven there is always the Acropolis. (Strippers, steaks, and more beer.)

Ugh, i must be one of the only ones here who think mcminimins are just bleh. There beer and food is not very good. I do like what they did with the Kennedy school. That's like a 30min looksee. Or longer if you decide to go to the whiskey room.

Powels is pretty cool
omsi is neat if you are into sciency stuff, make sure there main exhibit is more adult oriented as it can get very 10year old feeling. Dont get me wrong i love the place !
If you get a clear day, picnic and head up to counsel crest, view is pretty awesome
If you are into coffee, stumptown is the jam.
thrift shoppin, Hawthorne street is quite hipster
breakfast, mothers is amazing, tasty and sons is pretty good too.
sat/sun market
quick hike to the top of multnoma falls.
if you want to sample a ton of quality suds from the area, baileys tap room.
Small town feel, head out to hood river, i would move there in a hot second if i could.
cannon beach/ecola park is nice if you want to grab some goonies photos.

:stupid:

You both need to hit at least a strip club if not a shop at Dante's. There are a ton of great beer houses, of course not to spam too much, there is Columbia River Brewery in the Hollywood district. My son is head chef and the beer is very good. NW Brewpub of the year, the new happy hour menu is amazing.

Try any one of the good McMenamins joints. The Bagdad Theater Kennedy School, The Edgefield for some beer and pitch and putt golf. And of course there are the food carts, a MUST if you are in town. Right by my office is a cart pod on NW 5th and Oak. Also one on 10th the other way. Between those two pods, you have about 60 carts, of wich I can vouch for about 40 of those. For less than $10 (often less than $5) you can stuff yourself with amazing food from just about anywhere.

If you would like, I can give you my top 5 cart list between the 2 pods :)

I will say McMenamins isn't bad food or bad beer. Not the best in town for sure, but some of the venues have a lot to offer. I saw Ted at the Bagdad with pizza and beer. That was the perfect venue for that movie. Think of them as a Beer/Food McDonalds style for Portland. It will fill you up, it's pretty cheap and you know what you are getting at 75% of the places.

Is it Portland where you can get a dutch taco at a food cart near a brewery called Amnesia? Am I thinking of the right place? Anycrap, cool city. Just dropped in to Hair of the Dog when I was in PDX a week or so ago... that place has some REAL good beer. Echo sentiments on visiting Multnomah Falls and Powell's bookstore, both really neat in their own way. I also really liked the town of Astoria, which is where the movie Goonies was filmed IIRC. There's a really neat lighthouse thing there.

If you go to APEX, which you should, try the mexican place next door called Los Gorditos (be careful with the white sauce). Its awesome. Other touristy stuff that isnt mentioned would be Voodoo Donuts. If you like BBQ try out Podnahs up in NE or 21st smoke house. I would take you on a brewery pedal but I am going to be outta town next week.

If you want BBQ, go to Snoop Dogg's uncle Reo's place. I went to his new remote location on Powell in SE Portland on Saturday. Best BBQ anywhere. There is another location not far south of downtown along the river as well. The one off Powell is in the hood, it's awesome.

Good call on Apex and Hair of the Dog. I also recommend Cascade Barrel House and Belmont Station. Laurelhurst Market and Screen Door are awesome for food. Velo Cult is interesting if you like to geek out on old bikes.
