I'm going to save everyone a few pages and write down all the different sides of the various debates that arise every time the schedule is annpunced

• X track is too 'freeride' for a race
• X track is too pedally
• X track is too short
• The track near my house would be better than 'X' track, the lack of uplift, pit or fan areas is inconsequential
• Not enough races, think of the fans!
• Too many races, think of the travel budget/fatigue
• Too many countries for privateers to do the full season
• More countries means more locals that can't afford to travel can race

there are a few more I may have missed

We need schladders, vds and maribor back asap, which is not to say to take any of the others. Just expand the schedule

its getting close to a proper "world cup" just need a race in south America and Aisa (Arai Japan looked class in Earthed) add Champery/VDS and Schladaming in and it would be EPIC.

we can dream.

a race in new zealand in between south africa and Cairns would have made sense as well

Its the 2014 World minus Asia Cup Schedule.

Its World Cup that means travel the world, bypassing Asia.

I constantly hear rumors about a US WC back in the central Rockies (Angel Fire, Vail, Durango, Telluride from the past) at places like Angle Fire, Crested Butte and Winter Park. But every year when a schedule comes out I get sad.

In the early 2000s there were 2 in CO in 1 year. Argh!

why going back to windham ffs? we need proper tracks that can generate a huge crowd, not a small hill with only little viewers...
Windham is within 2.5 hours of the 4th most populous metropolitan area in the world. The NE/ Mid Atlantic have also supported up to three competitive amateur dh series. Colorado and California certainly can't make those claims.

They should do it based off of net sales percentage in the industry. If the USA accounts for 50% of net sales they should do at least 2 events here........

Or market share etc....

two thirds of the planet is water, therefore 66% of races should be held under sea

this, you can race literally every single weekend from may-november on the east coast, only a few of them drop below new jersey. The northeast is thriving with races and lift accessed mtns. new ones are opening every year. windham might not be "up to par" per say, but for those of us who have ridden it, it might be short-but it gets wild and exciting. It also has lots of big jumps :)

for everyone blaming the uci for ______ venue not being on the calendar, or for there only being X amount of DH events:

please brush up on the bidding process on how to host a world cup event. its up to a particular venue to submit a bid to host to the UCI. the UCI doesn't go out soliciting bids. They can't put more races on the calendar than they receive bids for.

Unless you have been involved in this process you have no idea of how difficult and complicated it is. There is another reason why there is a lack of bids from U.S. venues - it is not very feasible financially in the US to hold a WC for many reasons. Windham happens due to a group of increadible volunteers and supporters that put in a huge effort to create this event along with Windham Mountain. If it wasn't for them it would never happen.
As far a Windham not being a "proper Mountain" like Euope thats a bunch of bull. Windham always ranked very high with the racers and the teams as far as a venue. WC riders liked the course and thats good enough for me.

Population centers in Europe are a hair bit closer to World Cups than in the US. Plus there tend to be multiple major metropolitan areas closer to them. In the US, you could put a World Cup in Deer Valley, Durango, Big Bear, Mammoth, Mt. Snow, Windham, Snowshoe, Keystone, Durango, Vail, Killington, Snowqualmie or even Tahoe.

I'd be a law breaking 6 hour haul ass drive to get to even ONE of those venues. 12+ hours to 3 of them and 2-3 day eye bleeding drive from all the others.

If you're talking California you want china peak. Just over an hour from a million person metropolitan area and international airport, with much more suitable terrain than the other California places.

Most importantly, there's a race back here in the USA. It would be nice if they changed it up every year so that we can all see and enjoy the race scene, but I guess it's up to the resorts.
