I'm having a wheelset built with Mavic 823's, gonna run a Maxxis DHF and a High Roller II tubeless setup.

Maxxis has a UST DHF but not for the high roller II. So, any tips on this setup from your experience? Valves, sealants, etc etc

Thanks!

Use sealant.
Since were in here, have you had issues with your DHR 2s holding air with 823s dude? Main reason Im back to tubes now is I just cant get mine to hold air.

PS, Im talking bout the 60a DH casing DHR 2. Dunno if the compound makes a difference...

I've had some maxxis tires leak out of the sidewalls. Kind of a seeping through a bunch of microscopic pin holes kind of deal. Sloshing around the sealant fixes it which is why I mentioned that.

I don't use plain stans either. I thicken it up with molding latex.

@woo, thanks. I ran tubes front and back at N* last weekend. Tried to monster over some sections of sticks n stones and upper karpiel and some other rocky shlt. No flats. I was surprised. Regular 2.1-2.3 tubes.

are there good cheaper alternatives to stans? that work equally well.
latex caulk $1.79 mixed with water and fine sawdust
used it on bikes, wheelbarrow, hand truck, etc. I originally did it at work to fix a hand truck with what I had on hand and it worked so damn well I tried it on ghetto tubeless, worked, and mavic 823, worked.

I actually don't own them yet, so no problems yet :) the wheelset is being ordered/built now, and I still need to order tires and haven't decided on compound yet.

more just thinking ahead so I have everything ready when they arrive. good to know I'll be set with some stans (or similar)

I've been on standard 2-ply Minion DHF's w/ 823's and Stan's for 6 years plus with minimal issues. Last year I switched to the DHRII in the back and same story, minimal issues. I'm a big dude (240lbs) and ride at a decent clip. With 30f/35r PSI I never burp in corners or hack landings, etc... I do get the occasional little burp if I hit a rock section just right, but that's few and far between and has never been a significant amount of air loss.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but with all the nightmare stories about tubeless out there I think people are either major hacks or have poorly setup wheels.

Fred.r - and I'm pretty light too at about 150lbs so I'm hoping that will help with burping too. I'd be happy to have similar results as you

btw, how much stans are you guys putting in each tire?
The 1st and 2nd reply hit it on the mark. I run 823/Maxxis and I use about a cup of Stans. I've used less/more and haven't noticed much of a difference. With more Stans you'll save a few psi when the rim burps as it will seal a bit faster, that's all I've noticed.

The only problem I see is that your using some type of High Roller. Minions! ;)
