Once again, I'll post my comparison pictures of mobility (flex) in the neck with and without the Leatt. Keep in mind that without the Leatt brace, this is how face I can, under my own power, flexibility, and weight, move my head/neck. Under the load of smashing my face/neck into the ground at 30+ mph, you can imagine how much flex takes place. The photos of me with the Leatt on show me moving my head as far in any direction as it possible, limited by the helmet-to-Leatt contact.

*I have seen photos of mobility with the Adventure brace, but I can tell you that even with the Club brace set in the lowest position I have on VERY rare occasion felt slightly-restricted. Not enough to bother me and you get used to it. But the first few rides you'll definitely notice it.*

even the carbon evolution? mine is super low profile, i cant see it not working????
cant talk about the carbon evlolution but the flight was an all out disaster. To the person who mentioned padded shorts, i also ride those. Definitely a must.

661 Crap helmet (temporary)
Leatt brace
661 Kyle straight knee pads.
661 Padded shorts
Rockgardn riding shorts

Sometimes, pressure suite or Fox elbow pads.
on occasion ill use gloves

Prettymike, what THE helmet is that: and has it worked out well?

Demo, Why was the 661 Flight a disaster?
THE IZYK helmet, and yes. It's worked out well. The same helmet saved my noggin' last season at Northstar, so I bought another one. It's a little tight around the cheeks sometimes, but you can change out the pads. The helmet is light weight for a non-C/F helmet, and gives good mobility when teamed up with the Leatt.

As great as the helmet is, it is IMPOSSIBLE to wear with a leatt. It comes down on the front and back and that causes me to not be able to see past my stem when i ride. As a helmet it is great, but i cannot wear it with the leatt, so i am retiring it.

Yeah, a crash is a crash and you don't always come out clean. Definitely noticed the disclaimer on the site, but you'd think they could build the brace with a collarbone cutout so that it wasn't as prone to doing damage to the shoulder.

I'll still probably wear the brace, if only because my sort of luck would get me crippled that first ride when i said, "naw, screw this thing, I'll leave it in the truck." It's just that after crashing on my head so many times my neck is pretty flexible and I think I would have just rolled out of this hit without injury if it hadn't been for the brace transmitting all the force into my collarbone. Then again it could have been much worse and I could be kidding myself.

You do realize that your collar bone has nothing to do with a shoulder dislocation or shoulder joint....there is no way possible to dislocate your shoulder by force appled to your clavicle (without severly braking your clavicle and doing massive dammage to that side of your body..ie auto accident). You could have your collar bone removed with an axe and your shoulder joint would still be intact.

and the leatt is designed specifically to/has a 'cut out' around, the clavicle already...

sorry about your crash, but you are searching for something to blame for an accident that is not the fault of anyone or anything.

Sorry, shoulder separation. I always forget not to use the terms interchangeably.

fwiw.........I'll chime in:

Bell "bellistic" helmet.....I just started Dh and wasn't sure if I'd like..........totally fell in love and will be buying a DOT lid as $$ allows. So far the Bell has been great. I've taken several dirt samples( none at high speed....I don't go fast.......ever) It has saved me...I like that.

Sette pressure suit..........this thing is great and inexpensive. It saved my spine first day out( went otb and smashed my lower back[ L1-L2 area] on a pointed rock and walked away). Fits is good. although a little warm somedays. But for the price........BEst purchase!!!

Fox Launch knee/shin guards......awesome. don't move and aren't warm and I barely notice them there........saved my knees several times and my shins from pedal slip.

Dakine Defender gloves. Love the knuckle protection and they grip well....not at all warm.......fit a tad snug in the XL's but hey.........can't have it all!

5.10 impact low's and I know I need new pedals..........so they'll come soon.

I'm not running a Leatt because I can't afford one yet and so far my speeds are low and my drops and jumps are small so I think I'll tempt the fates for a little while longer until $$ allows.

I need a new helmet. Till now i have used a Urge down-o-matic, which i recently cracked. I tried a d3 and its perfect apart from the steep price. Does anyone have a recomentation for a d3-esque helmet with similar fit that wont cost an arm and a leg?
