Repairing a bent crank

During the world's smallest crash, one of my cranks was somehow bent. I rode out the day on it but can't stand the feeling of my pedal twisting under foot.

My question is: Can I get away with hammering it straight again? It's a Truvativ Ruktion - AL-6061 alloy.

I can't afford to replace at this stage so it's either repair, or tolerate it..

Cheers

I have no idea on straightening it but are you 100% sure it is the arm bent and not the pedal axle? I've swapped out a set of cranks only to find I had a bent pedal, big waste of money.

trying to bend it back will only fatigue the material more. how old was the bike? sram might warranty the crank arm for you. but check to make sure its the crank arm and not the pedal thats bent first.

Wow great response. Thanks all. Actually it hadn't occurred to me it might be the pedal axle. I'll swap the pedals around later and see if the problem swaps sides too. The cranks are 2011. Probably not under warranty any more.

Did you know that pedals have right and left hand threads. Do not try to straighten your crank by bending it back. Get new cranks.

sram (owns truvativ) is good with warranties. if they don't outright replace it for you they'll get you a replacement crank arm (not a whole crank set) at a highly discounted price (as crash replacement)

Thanks for the advice. No reply from SRAM or otherwise, so I'm guessing there's no help to be had. No worries!

I just bought some used FSA Gravity cranks to get by. They came with a pretty looking 38T chainring and E-thirteen bash-ring for $25.
