Stick with standard Maxxis tires and use some Stans.

In my experience, it's the BEAD that tears away from the sidewall. Newer versions might be fixed now, but I gave up on them after having it happen multiple times.

I've heard that about the bead tearing off, but I've had no problems with UST High Rollers my only problem with the UST Maxxis tires is they don't make the HR2 or Minion2 in UST.

regular 2ply & some latex based sealant.
i won't go back to the dedicated ust ones, because of the side wall / bead.

Ive ran the ust dhf's since 2011 and have had no issues. I think maxxis got the sidewall issues sorted. I haven't torn one yet.

I had the bead tearing issues with previous Maxxis UST Minions (using with Mavic 823 rims), but just bought a new set after a couple of years and have no issues. The bead area seems thicker, they are also about 100g heavier than they used to be.
