after watching gee's 'a tree ate my balls' incident during practice, i think he deserved the 'dry' track on finals..

I think they said that the got a longer front triangles to help with stability for the higher speeds of this track. And they shortened the cs to compensate for the elongated front.

Longer front triangle and shorter rear - just like it was on the sunday and then on the demo
Priceless, Spesh is modifying geo on Demo to make it more Trek like for Gwin and CRC is modifying geo to make it more Demo like for Hill. they shud just switch bikes and paint them their sponsors color... Thats what they did 20 yrs ago when half the field rode the Intense M1 frame.

Doesn't the Pulse just have flip chips for shortening the CS length anyways? Maybe that was the 'shorter chainstay' setup they were talking about.

First off, HUGE props to Smith for pulling the win. I saw him pull two rock doubles in his race run that no one else did.

Second, that absolutely sucks that Gee had an off day on track and still gets second thanks to random arse weather. Would his run in the dry have even been good enough for top 10?

I know weather is part of the World Cup, so I'm not utterly destroyed, but it's just so much better to watch all of them blister the course in the same conditions.

Damn, that last second win was worth waiting for though. Oh, and man is everybody peaking at once!

So rad that CRC can have a new front triangle pooped out for their boys for one race... no can do so easy with carbone
i don't know how much length was added to either frame but the syndicate got their riders longer front ends as well. different method but essentially the same result - and much cheaper i imagine.

Fully agree. His huck in the 1st major rock section was nuts, none of the other riders even attempted it which shows how mad it must have been. Then the stepdown/double which he hit prior to hitting the fireroad pedal section was also huge, others just rolling or dropping where Smith sent it onto the 2nd or 3rd lander.

Its been a while it seems since the finals have played the WET/DRY game.I think if Gee held on even he would not have made a big deal post race , Neethling makes a comment in the Vital Finals slideshow about it.

I think Vitals coverage both through their Slideshows and the new Raw Footage has been a step above the competition. That dirt tv qualifying video was a painful mix of bad music and slow-mo's, and thats coming from a big fan of the Parkin Bros work.

Cool & creative what SC did, but nowhere near the same degree of control.

I've wondered about a company like CRC/Nuke providing ultra adjustable frame platforms for the WC teams... as they so often alter (or rig) setups dramatically from course to course. I remember DW talking about a test mule adjustable Sunday they had back in the day...

Oh, and just wanted to poo poo one thing about the event. No seating at the finish? Caused it to only be 4 people deep and made the finish line crowd look non-existent.

Any idea of attendance totals as compared to in the past?

Not exactly the same result. Weight distribution is different. You are closer to the front wheel on the modded v10s

I watched the Crankworx Garbanzo DH coverage for a few minutes last night, and managed to catch a the spotlight on Hart's bike with Dave Garland. According to Garland, Hart's riding a large frame and 35mm stem. And he's been running the Charger damper in his Boxxers, which would mean an air spring correct? Or can you have the charger damper with a coil spring? Caus' during the MSA webcast, Warner had been saying that Hart was running dual coil's, because he was too light for air springs...

Ah, cheers! First I've heard of it, started wondering if it was aftermarket in the style of Avalanche but was sure he was Blackbox. Makes sense now. Clearly I ride my road bike too much....

Damper = right side leg. Spring = left side leg. So why not?

btw, any updates on Rachel? In her post-race interviews she mentions "re-injuring" her shoulder. Not injuring, but re-injuring. I'm hoping that's just heat of the moment talk and that she's better now, but I'm wondering how she's doing. it would be a shame if she got injured again.

I just read that Matt Simmonds gave his tear-offs to Hill who had none. Pretty class move by Simmonds who rode in some of the worst of it.

Very cool. Hopefully there's some good race karma headed Matt Simmonds' way -- definitely well-deserved.
