Completely blown away by this place... I just have a time for a couple shots but will be posting tons later... (click to make them bigger)

The burms here are incredible and they just keep going all the way down... 66 total on this trail.

Here you can kind of see how the burms just going all the way down to the village

Last one for now, the huge jump! .....Sol Vista's got nothing on Sun Peaks! Elliot ripping over it!

Yeah I went there a few years ago for the UCI World Masters race and didn't get a chance to ride those sweet berms leading to the village. Glad you had fun!

Sun peaks is awesome! We went for our honeymoon and just rented bikes for simplicity. Even though the bikes were jenky, by the end of the day I was used to it and having a blast!
It's a great place for beginners since the atmosphere isn't as intense as whistler. If you want a fun place with almost no lines, I think it's awesome. I think it has a few of the gnarlier lines I've ever seen in a bike park too..

Oh yeah, the woods trails were good- there was an old school style freeride trail that followed a creek down with skinnies that was really cool.

Nice Pictures!! ...funny we keep saying Sun Peaks is so much better for advanced riders as it's faster, longer, and more tech than Whistler... guess it's just good for all!

The last time I rode Sun Peaks I swore I would never return. This was about 4 years ago. These pics are making me rethink my decision.

More photos! Click to make them bigger to see in full force!

We were staring at this drop in Insanity, if you go really slow you can roll it, if you go fast you can huck 40 feet!

The jump park!

Steep roll in... thinking this would be tough in the rain...

Fortunately it was not raining!

Elliot get's the jump pictures because he looks good and I look goonish!

Last one for now. Gaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

More photos coming later...

Alloy- thanks for the compliment on the pics, your pics are awesome too!!
That road gap looks fun, I want to go back and try it.
Have you ridden Smitty's steeps yet? When I saw the sign, I laughed at the name- I quit laughing once there was no way to stop, and I decided that the name was legit :)
ok, I have a couple more:
this one I tried to copy the cover of last year's trail map (the composition). Didn't come out quite as good. Maybe a little cropping would get it closer. :)

And finally, my wife having a blast:

Hhahha hell yeah we have! That trail is crazy, you start hauling ass then you come up on a hidden chican!! Every run down is a close call, but dirt is perfect right now so it's all awesome!

Here's a cool sequence on Insanity..

MARK! We are in Washington state right now. Heading up to Canada tomorrow...Whistler, mainly but were thinking of hitting other stuff. Hit me up man!!

Hey man! Would definitely try to do the drive to Sun Peaks. We did 3 days in Whistler took a day off and came up here. ...Was well worth it, seems a little cheaper too.

Debating what to do now. Might do SilverStar, stay here, or head back to Whistler. Let me know what you guys end up doing, lets definitely hook up!

How can the trails be longer and steeper? I've never been to either (so i have no idea what i'm talking about) but just checking out the stats, whistler has about 3k vert from garbonzo, and sun peaks "only" has about 2k of vert from the top?

It's more like a flow thing. The trails at Whistler are bad ass and all, but they always seems to interrupt the flow with something to slow you down, like a road crossing, or an uphill section before a fork. Imagine riding through Samuri Pizza cat, and then at the end instead of a flat turn to a wooden chican across the road, they throw in a road gap and you're right back in the woods. That's Sun Peaks...

Holy cow. I finally rode here a week ago. Sun Peaks is unreal. How does this place not get more hype? It blows away Whistler for basically any kind of pure "DH" riding.

because it's in the middle of nowhere?
May be in the middle of nowhere, but it is close to Kamloops. I discovered Sun Peaks in 2009 and have been back there every year since. Not only are the trails full on rowdy, but the vibe there is super chill. Not to mention all the available nearby post chairlift riding to be had. We did a couple of events up there this season and are planning a new more for 2014. The only bummer with the resort is they open late and close early.

If you are planning a BC trip next year, I'd HIGHLY recommend hitting up Sun Peaks and some of the fun trails in Kamloops on your way back through. Brad Stuart from Brad's yard, now manages the Bike Ranch which has one of the biggest jump lines I've seen!

Yeah I was surprised. Kamloops is actually a reasonably sized town. It's nice that Sun Peaks is basically empty too. No crowds or lines like Whistler. You are really cheating yourself if you go to BC and only do Whistler. Silver star is pretty fun too. The Pro-star to walk the line trail is pretty fun. The rest of the trails aren't anything super special though (still really fun though).

The Kamloops bike ranch is in-fvcking-sane. I can't believe that a city would let them build such huge, sketchy features. Some SUPER gnarly DH chutes, trails that are good sized doubles the whole way down, big cliff drops and ladder drops. Here's a picture I snapped of the DJ area. The big one in the background is probably 10 feet shorter than the biggest jump in the line. BTW the guy in the pic is 6'4" and standing about 10 feet in front of the big one.

Some of that stuff is as big or bigger than the Whistler boneyard stuff probably.

I probably do too but I had fun on the creek gap anyway.

Haha - - Honey Drop sounds innocent enough but that's a steep lil' bugger too.

Ya, was there too - - killed me to see all that and know all my time on the mountain would be training runs on the course.

Panorama is a fun place too - - little more old-skool, rough-hewn trails and some gnarly steep-n-deeps.

Wow I need to get out there. Is it already closed for the season? Too lazy to Google, even though it'd be easier than typing this.

Any decent accommodations you'd recommend? Still in BC for a few weeks so maybe I can make it out there...
