Ps. Sorry for my eng
Don't worry, your English is better than my Thai ;)

400 for 175 geared up you say? Hmm, how much sag is that?

Some of you can share your height and frame size? I'm 6'2'', 195lbs, and I'm really wondering if I should go L or XL. I've been riding a large DHR for last 3 years and it felt perfect. With no website on, I've been struggling to find good info on size chart and spring rate.

I'm also undecided if I should get a ccdb coil or a rc4? Anyone have experienced both on the undead?

I'm really excited getting this bike but I'm scared to choose the wrong size. Those suckers are pretty rare on the trail so I can't hop on one to get a feeling.

cheers!

email info@evil-bikes.com for sizing recommendations and info, chances are you'll get a personal response in one biz day or so. Here's the size chart and shock setup info (DHX RC4) I got when I asked, not sure if it's been updated or revised in the past couple months.

Are you on an L dw-dhr? Get the XL evil.
If you can get the 2014 RC4 (no boost valve), get that. I'd prefer it over a CCDB, every CC I've had (of 3) has leaked in short time, 2/3 had bad bleeds from factory, and very few people are capable of servicing them properly. TFTuned do a good job if anyone is wondering.

In other news, a big thanks to fred.r on here for hooking me up with his spare dogbone bearings.

Yes a L DW-DHR. It seems to fell between a XL and a Large Undead. I really liked my RC4 on this bike but I heard real good things about the CCdB.

It does fall between the XL and L. The L DW-DHR isn't much bigger but it is slightly bigger for sure, I've spent plenty of time on both. I'd probably make the decision based on the types of tracks you ride - if there are a lot of tight corners the L will work better, but if they are more open and fast then the XL will excel. :)

As for the shocks, if you can get a 14 RC4 I'd pick that over a CCDB, but if you live in the US (or purchase direct from Malcolm) CC warranty is excellent and that makes it a more viable option. I found the shocks themselves unreliable.

I'd say he means ~1" on the shock shaft, i.e. ~33%.
Ah, my brain isnt working today...around 1 inch sag...gotcha (been living in the UK for 10 years, amd I still struggle with the archaic imperial measuement system)

Odd that you've had issues with the CCDb, as my experience is the polar opposite. The majority if my friends have a ccdb, none of which have ever had issues. The one I'm about to start using, is one of the original hand made ones, thats never been serviced ( loaner from a mate....that I've now sent iff to TFT for some loving).

Ive also owned one for about auearand it was faultless. The only issue anyone i know jas had, has been the Soecialized demo + ccdb = snapped shaft issue....though I don't. Blame the DB for that.

Maybe I'm just a picky owner, but between myself and my cousin (4-5 CCDBs) we found they came with varying bleeds / varying amounts of air in them and they seemed to last inconsistent amounts of time before leaking. I had some that leaked from the shaft within a week of use or from new, and some that lasted a year before starting. I got excellent support from Malcolm/CC but grew tired of the failures and moved on.

A lot of owners seem to think noise from them is normal but it's an indication of poor bleed. They are a very quiet shock when bled correctly. Agree that the broken shafts are Specialized's fault, I had no problems with that ever.

One of the few good ones I've felt was on a TFTuned guy's bike, judging by that I'd say you're in good hands. If it's an old one I'd make sure it has the latest valving.

First I can attest to the sound, send it to TF and they reported just as I suspected and you stated, air in the oil.

However my shock had done 1.5 seasons before that with no service. Even just this season up until I sent it in it had around 45 days of pretty hard lift riding. So I think the realiability is far better than I would have expected. Maybe that has improved since earlier versions

Just got an answer from Kevin for sizing:

''The frame ships with the 2014 Fox RC4 Kashima and I prefer this over any shock we tested. The bike was developed around the Fox damper and it tends to best represent the bikes character. The CCDB is a great shock but tends to be a little over damped so you lose that liveliness and pedal feel that we intended the bike to have.

I attached all the specs for you to review. I would say that a Large is perfect, however I have seen riders trending towards slightly larger bikes lately.

Feel free to hit me back after you review the number and see if you have further questions.

Cheers and look forward to hearing from you!!

Kevin''

I'm really confused now again on the sizing. :S

Would you prefer a bike that is slightly larger or slightly smaller than your DW-DHR? It's not a big difference either way, but answer that question and you'll know your size.

Anyone to know the evil uprising can use tapered fork . I order 1 frame and want to use my old tapered fork.
Thank you
Yes, the headset the uprising comes with is designed for a tapered steer tube. I had to get a 1.5" to 1 1/8" crown adapter from cane creek to put my straight steer on mine.

Can't wait to build mine up :D ... such a beautiful frame..

Anyone running the new Vivid coil yet? I'm going to run one, but not sure if I should start with my 350lb spring or 400lb spring... I weigh 170lbs with no gear.

Also.. anyone have any base line settings for Fox 40 float... I've run Boxxers my whole life and will be my first time on a 40, dunno where to start. Any tips help.

Should be built up next week.... although the Enve wheels take two more weeks to come in.. darn it!

I'm running an older vivid coil that I had valved by Vorsprung; I like it a lot better than the RC4.

For the spring rate I think it'll depend on what type of ride you want. Pop or plow? I bet the 350lb spring will give you a better balance of both depending on how you tune your shock.

Free length on my 350lb Obtainium is too small for the Vivid... so I'm on the 425lb Obtainium right now.. new 350 TI spring should be here next week... but will have to rock this for now. I'll just have to ride balls to the wall to compensate for the extra stiffness :p

Super excited, last weekend the local bike park is open so I am happy to be able to shred it. 40 feels great in the parking lot, can't wait to hit the trails.

need to cut some cables... waiting for bleed kit to come in this week... woooot!

Let us know what you think of the bars.
I've been riding them happily for 10 months and thought that they were great ... that was until I took the bike to some "real" downhill out in the Alps this summer.

Perhaps it's my desk job taking it's toll on me, but by Satan's red asshole, they hurt! Faar too stiff, so I've now put some Production Privee bar /stem combo on.

I have run these bars on my demo since they first came out... I guess I'm not keen enough to know the difference of a bar that's too stiff vs not stiff enough. I've ridden rocky stuff, I thought your hands just hurt no matter what haha..

I am actually getting rid of them in favor of hope crown/Enve combo. They came with the build kit I got so I just threw em on for now.

Back in action!:thumb:
How do you feel about the differences in the chainstay lengths of both bikes?
I feel like I can carve this bike just as quickly as my demo. I do notice that I have to stick my lines harder with this bike in the beginning of the turn because my body english doesn't affect the turn as it did compared to the Demo.

But this bike holds it's line much better and more confidently than my Demo did so that I'm finding myself making less mistakes and getting to where I want in time.

Glad to see you back on the bike and ripping it up.
curious what settings you ended up with, still playing a little with mine but it's feeling better and better.

and love the action pic sequence too!

thanks guys...this bike has got me re-stoked on riding all over again and re-focused on improving even more.

i weigh 165lbs in my birthday suit.. i ended up runnin 65psi. +12 clicks low speed compression, +4 clicks high speed compression, +10 clicks rebound

Mine arrived yesterday! Finally XL size as most of the users here advise me to get XL at my 6'2. Unfortunately i am with a broken fibula so it should wait a bit to taste the dirt :(

Now i have time to decide if get a Fox40 Air or a Dorado.... My last f40 was a disaster...

I'm also 6'2 and I ordered a Large from Kevin advise. Would have been great to test ride, atleast in a parking, to choose size correctly. Anyway I'll post feedback on sizing.
