Yeah, I was wondering why Gee was being touted as "dominating" and "consistent" due to his start of the season. It was certainly strong, but after MSA, those descriptors became pretty misplaced...

He's awesome and all, just not quite as awesome as Steve Smith who is clearly superior. (Heh)

I just hope Smith stays out of all that Rampage nonsense. It's cool and all, but just not worth the risk. I think Gee is nuts for participating.

I watched the Gee and Steve interview on Redbull twice yesterday. What I find interesting is the way they answered the question about friendship/rivalry. Gee seemed like he had a hard time separating the racing from the friendship while Steve seemed like he was just happy to be in the position he was in.

They're both great racers and want to win but I think Steve's head was in a better place than Gee's which gave him the edge.

Gee always seems to come back strong after close seasons like this; he'll probably train even harder this winter. I hope Steve keeps his motivation and comes back even stronger next year as well. Watching it come down to the wire is great for the fans and the sport.

Ha, wow. Which is it? Gee is too hardcore of a professional and should loosen up more, or he should be more serious and not risk participating in Rampage?

I am super stoked for Stevie but damn, Gee can't catch a break from this crowd.

None of those guys were a challenge for the overall, the two that mattered were there and neither crashed so pretty cool way for the race to go down. Remi, WC winner this year, Sik Mik and Bruni raced so in my book that's plenty of top dogs.
Apart from Atherton and Smith, not a soul in the top 10 even had a win. The guys I listed are ALL World Champs or World Cup winners, not to mention have most all the World Cup Series winners from the past 8-10 years.

So no, not top dogs. Hannah is the only one who is something of a top dog, but as pointed out by the commentators, has only ONE win to his credit (how he doesn't have more I have no idea).

I agree with Pegboy.

Not the way I read it. Remi was the only one other than Gee or Stevie to have a win anyway.
Exactly what I was about to point out:

Round 1: Gee
Round 2: Gee
Round 3: Remi
Round 4: Steve
Round 5: Steve
Round 6: Steve

Red Bull should now sack up and put on a race in BC.

Give everyone a flight voucher or something...
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Charter a plane from the previous event and put the whole tour on it.

I'm a genius.

when was the last season Greg was skunked? (although I suppose you could say he did win a race this year.... and a rather important one at that!)

2007.

If it wasn't for him having won World Champs this year, I'd be wondering if Steve's record of 17 wins MIGHT last a little longer... Minnaar's on 16.

So he isn't retiring from dh? I think minnaar is far ahead with the numbers and considering his age could add a few more. I had the impression that he really saved himself for worlds this year but wasn't really off the pace in the other races. It's still very weird how unpopular minnaar is (not in the sense that nobody likes him but in the sense that he somwhow doesn't seem to bother people as much as other reasons). Maybe because he is around for such a long time and such a uncomplicated person.

Not sure what you are trying to say but Vitalmtb confirmed the Bruni was on 650b too. So that is a second place yesterday and 4th overall and 5th overall for Blenki. Big improvements for Bruni and best season for Blenki too. Not blow out but at least proofs it can be ridden down hill. Despite their great results difficult to say if there is a real advantage.

If you don't like Greg Minnaar, you:
1) Have never met him, or
2) Are a total idiot.

One of the chillest, down-to-earth dudes on the circuit and a consummate professional.

All 6 Worldcups and Worlds were won on 26 wheels - end of story!

Would you prefer I say "in recent memory...say, the last 4+years? :D
Haha, I knew what you were saying. All the injuries left it pretty wide open for the young guys. I just found it funny that you said no one else in the top ten even had a world cup win when Peaty was right there in 9th. It's easy to overlook those 17 world cup wins and 1 world champs. Haha.

Somewhere dark, cold & wet....
behold the genius seb:

1.awesome to see smith win and win the overall.
2. Awesome to see neko and Richie rude on the front result page.
3.awesome to see so many USA's on the front page.would be even more if ropelato and gwin raced(maybe).
4. Last and certainly not least it was sweet to see Gee lose. I hate his roid veins and his face. The other athertons are cool, gee not so much. Muscle milk.

Edit: lol hard work to the above post. Juiced juiced juiced. He stinks
looks like you're gonna need to change Roots and Rain so it has a Top Fuel category
