Boxxers with Black Stanchions, When ?

What do Rockshox have up their sleeve ?

So a local bike store over here in Australia have the Pike, Revalation and Sid all with black stanchions, the later 2 of nt being shown on there website either.

The Blackbox programme I thought was for riders that have had a top 5 finish on the WC circuit. I noticed at the worlds a few other riders that have never had top 5 finishes were sporting the nice new shiny black stanchions, I put this down to it being a special one of race and helping a few riders out.

2 weeks later in Norway even more riders had them and in Austria on the weekend the majority of the Rockshox riders were riding with black stanchions, are these due for release any day now ?

Come on someone spill the beans.

As far as I know only the real blackbox riders have the blackbox internals (charger damper, etc). Different story for the black stanchions, there a a lot more arround (saw at least two riders in whistler riding them in the park some weeks ago).

But I hear that they will not be available to the public before late 2014/ early 2015.......

If it really is 2015, I'll be pretty disappointed.

I'd end up Sam Hilling my Boxxers or running Floats next year, probably.

The only thing better than a charger damper in a boxxer (I have a pike) would be some new stanchion color and coating to really make people wet. I don't know why this works like magic every time, but it does. You could have poop and rocks inside the fork, but as long as it has some kind of silver/gold/black/other? coating, it's tits.

It's a fashionista thing. I saw many boxxers with black stanctions in bike-parks this year but they where not dlc-coated but normal ano from fast or someone. The Blackbox-marketing-programme works obviously...

This is slightly off topic, but I feel the damping quality on RS stuff, especially trail forks, has surpassed Fox. I'm not really kean on the latest Fox stuff. Which kinda sucks, because it seems like Fox is spec'd OE on over half the new bikes out there. I haven't ridden a load of new forks and shocks, so I'd be interested to get other's opinions.

As mentioned, the black stanction coating is not indicative of the Charger damper. The current 2014 Revelations have black stanctions with no changes to the damper.

I was expecting a release in the past couple week (eurobike/interbike). I'd image the Boxxer's Charger damper was co-developed along side the Pike's development and is ready to go. Need to sell off some of the "old" R2C2 Boxxers before releasing something new.

True but in all seriousness this is the most buzz I have ever seen about RS and best reviews in recent times with the charger damper.

When everyone has the normal charger damper there will be a the charger+ with high and lowspeed adjustments. ;)

The Pike has two compression adjustments. Low speed is similar to the trail/climb/descend adjuster.

Only one rebound though, and no bottom out.

Some of the more hooked up whistlerites now have charger dampers...

Stanchions don't mean much, with fast suspension happily flogging them at €300 a pair.

So true. I love how people think "oh black, it must be DLC!!". I don't think these people have ever check how INSANELY expensive it is to have something DLC-ed properly. Wayyyyyyy outside the price range of any off the shelf fork. Also, it doesn't work (well) on aluminum I believe.

This image does not tell the whole story just watch some of the footage from the world cups they have DLC you can see the different colours from the oil/grease on the stanchions all the time.

Maybe the lower ranked riders with black stanchions are only on the so called black gold ones that came on the spesh demo team replica but Hill, Smith and Brosnan, prob Hart, Blinki have DLC.

They are on the best programmes testing the best parts for a reason I don't think production costs matters with those boys.

Could be true, but my 888 stanchions looked exactly the same.
Also, how do you put the Boxxer logo on the stanchions when they are DLC?

Some of the top guys might be on DLC like the picture of Hart demonstrates but the rest are black anodized just like the rock shox website says you get on the Pike.

The BTI website also specs the new Revalation and I believe the new SID with black anodized uppers as well.

The talk about the blackbox-programme sometimes reminds me when I surf with my sisters notebook and the browser history is like "selena gomez new hairstyle" but well to each his own...
