So unfortunately my latest post ride ritual is spending 45min with a crescent wrench attempting to bend my rear rotor back into a shape that resembles a circle..

Running a 185mm on the back of my trailbike and I cannot figure out how I keep bashing it...I dont even notice I'm doing it..once I shred a section of rough trail I will hear the dreaded sound of the rotor dragging as soon as I slow down..

Decided I need to build/buy? a rotor guard..Anybody else done anything similar? I'm assuming there isnt a commercially built one available as I've never seen one...

Found a pic of this one on Nico's bike..looks pretty simple..I've done plenty of composite work so making it wont be a problem...was just wondering if anyone else has any experience with them...was thinking some sort of plastic could be more durable than carbon?

Just curious, how many times have you fixed your rotor? Perhaps it is just warping at the weak spot after getting warmed up.

quite a few..I bent it first ride when it was new though...and there are fresh marks on it usually..I was also thinking it was maybe getting so hot it was warping..

Im putting on new brakes so I will get a new rear rotor and see if that makes a difference...

that's what i immediately thought of as well.

let's throw some brush guards on the handlebars too for good measure.
Full length 1/8" aluminum skidplates are next, and full wrap barkbusters.

While we're at it, we can bring back the Sidi boots.

Lapierre had one on their DH920 rig a few years back. I would suggest going for polycarbonate and putting a bit of elbow grease in with the dremel/jigsaw/wet n dry sandpaper

it wasnt just their DH bikes. a lot of their full suspension bikes used that guard. i cant imagine it saving your rotor from a hard hit though but im sure it did a good enough job for brushing off glancing blows.

I never seem to bash my rotors like I do the derailleur... but have thought a couple times recently that hand guards would be SICK BRO.
