so we spend the most on health care and education, yet have poor results in both...... and we have the most rich people and also the richest....

It's kind of crazy all of the correlation/causation you could connect between some of those charts. What would happen if we cut our defense spending in half and allocated that money to education? How many of the charts would we decrease on if our education levels went up?

Maybe they would if we improved the condition of our schools, paid our teachers more, and changed the curriculums.
i have a feeling that money will be tied up in superawesomehealthcare....
Perhaps I grew up in an over-privelaged and overeducated part of Alabama, but you can't convince me that the average European student is any more intelligent than the people I went to school with.
I'd agree with you, I think the background social environment is the biggest factor in the academic results difference.
