Downhill Mike and race crew brings you the 2014 Bootleg Canyon Winter Gravity Series. The 1st 2 weekend events will consist of Downhill and Super D races. For the finals in March a Dual Slalom race will be added to the line-up plus other fun surprises. Dates are January 17 thru January 19, February 14 thru February 16 and March 13 thru March 16. All races will be USA Cycling sanctioned and some will be qualifiers for the Gravity Nationals. Cash and prizes are already totaling over $10,000.00 for the series!

The Nevada State DH Championships will be the 1st event of the series. Open practice will begin with shuttle service on Friday January 17th and will follow with the Super D race on Saturday. Saturday will also include the DH Pro/Junior X seeding run. The main DH race will take place on Sunday January 19th at 11:00 am followed with the Open Chainless DH race. An awards ceremony will wrap up this 1st of 3 gravity fueled weekends.

Early registration opens on Friday November 1st. Prices increase each month but the prices are currently the same as they were back in 2009. For only $75.00 early amateur registrants receive 2 days of shuttle service, a professionally timed race run and a super cool event t-shirt. Pros pay an additional $20.00 that goes directly into their cash purse. Extras can be found on the online registration, such as 1 Day USA Cycling license, Friday shuttle service and the Open Chainless DH race. Registration, pictures, videos and great deals on lodging can be found on the official event website: www.downhillmike.com . And as always, there is plenty of free camping right at the venue with bathroom and shower facilities!

Register early and save!
Sponsors include: Box Components, Promax, MJT Designs, Five-Ten, Kore Bikes, All Mountain Cyclery and Go-Ride.com

Open class with chain?
Correct. We added the Open class last year to the main dh and included an Open class in Super D this year as well. The Open Chainless is just a fun little race after the real stuff.
So a 1 Day USA Cycling license is all you need. This Open category attracts those that are as fast as the licensed pro riders.

Course will not be disclosed till just before the race. We don't want to give the locals an unfair advantage. We already have people registered from 8 different states.
There will be a Pro/Expert line and a Sport/Beginner line on all dh race courses this year. Too much gnar we just can't ignore. More gnar!

Will it be known by the event organizers, marshall's, and racers what course the Open class will be running? Not a single person knew last year. Left a few of us feeling robbed of our money when we just paid $75 for an "Organized" race and not a single person who was an 'official' could give a solid, straight answer to where we were supposed to be going. And in the end, the top 2 finishers rode first, and on a different, faster course than the rest of the field.

Also, will the course be uphill like last year?

Can anyone confirm that its hotter in the spring than the summer? I am talking to someone about this through PM, and their was a claim that its hotter in the spring than the summer. this says otherwise:

also, can you camp there? the site doesnt really tell me much.. all the FAQs are about racing, which quite frankly, i dont care about.
