If you wanna go all out, there's a guy on a Volvo forum I frequent that is selling an awesome car, but it's scary....

Something I've wondered about with cars like that - who do you take them to for maintenance and repairs? Is that something you're just going to have to handle on your own? Or are there shops out there that could handle something so far from stock?

There isn't much to go wrong, and if something does it's fairly simple.

Cars like that are for gear heads who don't mind working on their cars. But, everything but the motor can be serviced at Volvo, the motor can be serviced at GM. That said, you'd probably know a good inde shop with guys who understand megasquirt and swaps. So no issues there. Plus, the package is incredibly reliable and WAY more simple than an audi to work on. Like, 10x easier really.

That said, you can get the same levels of power from the redblock 4cyl. This is just one way of making a 240 10 second fast. A few guys on turbobricks are in the 10s (some in the 8s and 9s with street cars) with the redblock 4 cyl turbo motor. A few went 2JZ. Others went Whiteblock (T5). Others went LSx

Okay.

-Avoiding a B6 S4.
-Drove a very tidy B5 S4 wagon last night. I liked it, but do have cold feet about dealing with a TT Audi to some extent.
-stevew, that B6 A4 is worth keeping an eye on. Thanks.
-I haven't been able to find a manual V70R or Legacy GT to drive, but would be interested.

Vancouver is closer than Whistler...

Canadian cars have daytime running lights, and I'm pretty sure our emissions standards just follow the US. Worst case would be that you'd have to change your speedo, but there's probably a button for that on the dash.

Why not check out the ones I posted?

Moneys. Definitely appreciate the suggestions but they're more than I want to spend.

This one crushed on R U Faster.

Yeah, you can tune a stupid amount of power out of them if you go full retard on them. The one I looked at last night was chipped, and and a few other odds and ends, but was mostly tuned for a little more power while remaining a reasonable DD, rather than a borderline undriveable monster.

My coworker is currently building a stage 3 B5 S4 sedan. He is hoping for around 400 whp. He (well his wife) also has a 4.2 allroad like mine so he didn't need another wagon. I looked for B5 S4 avants but most are really high miles and of course old which I'm not into.

I just found this locally, hopefully will go check it out soon:

I'm not a fan of white cars, but it's not often a manual, RWD, M-sport pack 3 series touring comes up for sale...

Somebody must know somebody. If only I could find someone to smog it....probably one of the biggest contributors to my waning lack of enthusiasm for fast cars lately. CA is such BS. I have no problem having a car pass the sniffer, but there are so many other rules, it's damn near impossible to build anything fun...

the audi got bigger as it comes closer on the timeline to present. B5 is just the good balance though bmw does just as well with their body options per chassis. The option doesn't include the inclusive ko4/3 turbo with hiding twin behind the engine that isn't pulled without pulling its motor.

Well when I was interested in buying a house, everybody told me to find land in Boston, park a trailer on it, and build a house while living out of the trailer.

Audis are phenomenal cars and there's no better place to be stuck in traffic than in the cockpit of one...they just need specialized care, specialized parts, and specialized mechanics.
