where the trails are
why wouldn't you just use 35mm Boxxer seals? They're readily available.
Is there something special/better about the new Pike seals?

Thanks for that tid-bit of info as i was not aware.
I am aware of riders sometimes removing the oil seals in a Boxxer to reduce friction although this does increase the service interval which is already pretty frequent.
I really dont see why it would not work unless the Pike seal combo has a strange shape or size to it.

The oil seals really suck. Stick one on a stantion and move it up and down. It is tight. Also, brand new pikes come with a spare set of seals.

Anyone that just bought a retail set of pikes wanna make an od measurement for me on the seal?
Same O/D but much shallower and there is no lip to seat on the top of the casting, the new boxers run this seal so I'm assuming the seal seat is different on the lowers of the new boxxer.

Yes they are better, sorry no pictures. The only "issue" is that they don't have a flange so you have to be careful to push them to a proper height evenly. You can push them until they are flush with the bore edge and that will work fine.

I am going to compare the feel and durability of these vs. the RacingBros Lycan 35mm I've been installing on customer forks since January.

My pair of set of pair of pikes did not come with a spare seal? I did get the pair of set of pair of 3 tokens.

The boxxer I saw with the new seals & charger damper had the seals recessed into the lowers a few mm. Just deep enough to trap dirt & mud on top of the seals. Seemed like an interesting design choice. Is the pike like this also?

Right now Charger damped Boxxers are using Pike seals. Some SRAM technicians leave the seals recessed a mm or two.

Pike seals on Pikes stay flush.
