I assume hours are flexible? I'll need to work from Maui Nov-April and during the race season I need Fri-Sun off and about half the Thursdays. Also, I only got halfway through my engineering degree but I'm pretty sure they covered all the important stuff at the begining. Sound good? If not feel free to explain to my parents why I still work at a restaraunt and bike shop.

While I lack formal engineering training and any computer design skills, my ability to create 3D models using hashish make me ideal for this position.

Salary range? Might know someone.
Salary range is dependent on the # of posts they've made, jackalope left that out of his revised posting.

This isn't a job search based on budget, its based on talent. The latter influences the former.

So...$60k? Bay area is pretty expensive. So I'd hope ~$80k at least.
Good machinists make $70-80K in the area, senior design engineers make well over $100k. Median home price in Santa Cruz is creeping up to $700k currently. Just over highway 17, on the silicon side, median home price is $1.3 million.

There is a reason why "competitive salary" is not in the ad. But you do get to design bikes 1/2 mile from the beach and go to China a lot! :weee:

The beach is actually about 300 yards from my desk. And yes, the median home price in Santa Cruz is quite expensive, but its not entirely without reason either. Last year I rode all winter in shorts.

I don't put "competitive salary" in the ad, because it doesn't mean anything specifically. Does it mean you could make the same wage as you could at another mountain bike company in the same town, or at an electronics company over the hill? How do you include benefits in that? Smart talented people aren't dumb. They know how to leverage their talent to make themselves a good life - and aren't pawns that are easy to take advantage of. But just in case, they have wood booger to look out for them as well!

Last year I rode my bike in Scotland (all expenses paid) for 10 days, and in Whistler for a week. Another engineer went riding in Tuscany and the French Alps and Finale on the clock, all expenses paid over a couple trips. Needless to say, we have a lot of bikes to ride around here too, so there's that.

Over the years, I've used my Asia travel, which can sometimes be a drag, to be the jumping off point to other vacation travel so the airfare is cheaper. I used this to visit places in Southeast Asia for motorcycling and diving vacations with friends and family.

I've drag-raced Peaty in a rental van, done a road trip across Europe with CG, sang bad karaoke with all sorts - all part of the job. There is a full arcade size Spy Hunter and a pinball game in the engineering machine shop right next to the beer fridge. Which I should probably go hit all 3, i'm thirsty after the ride I just got back from. Tough life for sure, thanks for looking out

Wow, great gig. I think I need to ask my doc for some Prozac now.

Why is the carbon bikes only in white or black? That green is the best color I've seen.

OGRipper has a patent on his green carbon V10 and threatened to sue if we made any more.

thank you. that's a stupid phrase that doesn't mean anything because people get paid based on experience and negotiating ability, and nobody should expect to get paid big bucks working for a small company, regardless of industry.
