Santa Cruz Launch Limited Edition Greg Minnaar Replica V10

On September 1st 2013, Greg Minnaar won a third World Championship title, on a stock Santa Cruz V10 downhill frame in front of his home crowd in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

To celebrate his back-to-back gold medals, Santa Cruz created a limited edition Minnaar V10 replica of which only 25 will be made, 23 of which will be planted at select locations around the World. Introduced at the Santa Cruz Christmas party on December 14 by Rob Warner, the man who commentated on Greg's Worlds run, 2 of the bikes were immediately spoken for onsite.

The bikes have a totally unique build, born from Greg’s collaboration with Syndicate race mechanics and team partners. From the aesthetics, such as one-off frame, wheel, fork, and saddle graphics, down to the specifics such as the 808mm wide Special Edition ENVE Minnaarbar and cut down Shimano 7-speed 11-19 cassette. Equipped with stock Fox suspension and Shimano Saint groupset, the Minnaar V10 Replica is perfected with Chris King components, Burgtec stem, Gamut chain device and Maxxis Minion DHR II tires.

Each bike also comes complete with a limited edition O’Neal Rainbow Stripes Minnaar replica jersey, made specifically to accompany the bike.

Although Greg actually rides an XL, Santa Cruz are offering the replica in four sizes, from small to extra large. If you want to secure a piece of Santa Cruz DH history, you’ll have to be swift. A full list of distributors/dealers holding the bikes can be found at the end of this article.

$11k for rainbows, a jersey and a numberplate? No thanks. Doesn't even come with the Gucci race suspension at that price. Silly.

i've always hoped that the "team replica" fad would stay within the realm of road cycling.
I agree, buying this bike is somewhat tacky, leave the world champ bike to the world champ. I am sure they will sell out easily though so good on santa cruz. Very nice parts spec, just a bit loud.

I doubt we're gonna see many of these in lift lines or on tailgates.

what a sweet looking bike.. i think the price is no problem for those who can afford and collect it.

reminds me of how CLOSE the competition was, only by 0.396 seconds to SIK MIK's polygon on 4 minutes track.

Just ran some quick numbers. Google indicates average speeds on that track were around 47 km/h, so ~42 ft/s. 0.4 seconds of 42 ft/s is about ~17ft. So he won by 3 bike lengths on a course that was what, 3k long?
