The thread title reads 2014, but this is for 2015-2016 National Champs. For 2014 you still get to go to the middle of nowhere Angelfire, which this past year had a whopping 10 cars in the parking lot on race day.

And USAC might need to fact check their claim of Mammoth being the venue of '96 world champs as that was held in Cairns, Australia. Guessing they just made that "fact" up to make it sound more legit. Regardless it will be a better than the last few years of Beach and Angelfire.

How is Mammoth in the middle of nowhere? 4 hours from LA, 5 from SF, 3 from Reno? Almost exactly in between some of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. That sounds pretty easily accessible to me. That place had hundreds of people on an average Saturday this summer.

Champs/Cup.....it's all the same to usac. Cuz either way they just make it as hard as possible to get to one.

You should pull your shrunken little satchel out of the hot tub and actually attend an event before disparaging it. You never even set foot at Beech. I think your car sucks ass Dave...because someone else said it did. So there....

Southern pride, bla bla bla, can't handle truth that Mammoth is better than Beach, I use sexual innuendos because I can't behave like an adult... I'm Butch and I don't know what I'm talking about as usual
Fixed it for ya.

So, Beach is good because you were there and say it's good. And I say it's bad because multiple people who have opinions I actually respect have been and say it sucks. Enough photos and vids of the events held there over the years certainly back them up, but you not so much ;-). So no, I wouldn't waste gas money in my ****ty car to attend that race.

So without setting foot on Beach or Mammoth I will stand by my words that Mammoth will be better than Beech's 2 minutes of grass and 1 minute of flat rock garden Beech Mountain - Pro Track on Vimeo

And More than 75 pro men/women will attend.

Bear with me, as I'm channeling my inner PSP (sans LSD suppository), but I have a suggestion for next year:

Lebanon, Kansas

The geographic center of teh Murica (not including our island colony and Seward's folly). So while there isn't much natural elevation change to be had in the sunflower state, it would address the travel advantage/disadvantage for the denizens of either coast. It would suck for everyone. Even for people in Kansas.

As for the course, I would propose an amalgamation from several regions. First, we need a hill, which I think the basic underpinnings could be constructed from the following:

Evil Revolt frames
Recalled Sram brakes
Maxxis Mobster and Kenda Blue Groove tires
Broken Specialized rear triangles
Any DH frame made before 2002
Anything ever made by Azonic
Karl Rove
Jimmiedeans wrecked Corvettes
Any bike related item in Sandwich's garage
Mag 30 rims
Every fixie we can our hands on
Castro hats and Che socks
V-drive cranks
Marzocchi owners manuals

Based on the above, I would conservatively calculate a gnar mound approximately 1,792 feet tall with a 35% grade could easily be constructed. Needless to say, much like a landfill, we would need a layer of cover material. I think a recipe of east coast rocks (namely from Southern Rocks at Windrock), west coast moon dust, weed from CO and WA, peanut butter mud from Snowshoe, west coast rocks from Tunnel, pedal grabbing bushes from Virgin, and a sprinkling of Plattekill shale on top would be appealing. Accommodations would be constructed from recent tornado detritus. Still working on the lift concept, but I'm thinking catapult and bean bags right now.

With national champs its more important about the location of the top 20 or so riders. Which as many threads here have pointed out before, is biased towards west coast and mountain states.

Also, you left out China Peak :P. Which was perhaps the most legitimate of the ProGRT courses.
