Has anyone tried/seen a Giro Cypher helmet in person?

I'm in the market for a new DH helmet. My trusty Giro Madmax II is getting old and has had a few crashes, plus I'm interested in getting something lighter. Most of the riding I do is non-lift-accessed but pretty much out and back, grind to the top and then rip it up on the way back down. So far I've checked out the POC Cortex Flow and like them quite a bit. They are about a pound lighter than my Madmax, lol. That would be nice on the climbs.

I'm very interested in the new Giro but was never a fan of the Remedy. The Remedy just always seemed overly large and bulbous, and not really much lighter than my Madmax. If the new Cypher is like that then I'll probably just skip it and order a POC.

^^Thank you for that. I'm mostly just concerned that it will be too much like the Remedy, which I think is very oversized and ugly (what can I say, fashion matters too). Also, I'm hoping to shave at least 1/2 pound off my current helmet.

I have tried on several POC helmets and found them super-comfy. Maybe you have to be a Swede to fit into them properly, lol.

That is some very poor , super amateur propaganda for your employer.

Rules #1 to be a great saleperson , do not ever bash on your competition. It makes you look weak and shows you have no valid argument why your product would be a better purchase.

Been riding bikes for 25 years and I've learn a long time ago : EVERYTHING CAN BE BROKEN, REGARDLESS OF THE BRAND... and thats especially true at event like C-Worx and Rampage.

To the OP: I've seen and tried the helmet in person, not the best fitting/quality helmet Ive ever tried but holy crap for 200$ , its very impressive !Im sure it meets every safety standards required to be legally sold .It looks great for the money, unlike other way more expensive brands with dragons and lighting bolts graphics ;-)

I ride a Fox Rampage Pro and highly recommend it if you have the $$$.

Would that fall from two stories up to the face have been any different in a D3?

Lulz. That guy is bad decision maker.
...Leans into a tree for no reason and bust his dome up.
...Then makes a video about it while wearing a NY Yankees bathrobe. WTF.
....Honorable mention to his music choice and the amateur porn decor of his apartment.
I think I just endured more pain than he did... Jager bombs!!!

I think Stick-in-the-Mud is more marketing than sales, so anything goes there. 60% BS spewer, 40% douche is standard for that position.

Remember his prior stint w/ Intense?

I think he got brain damage too.

He responded in the comments with things that looked like "dvork vlad kvyork"

But you can't NOT laugh your ass off at that vicious face based war on Christmas trees.
Can't blame him. He probably snagged a belt loop.

Tried one on today, still quite round like a remedy but feels a lot nicer. They also had the new cheaper version of the Bell full 9, both lids feel similar once on but the giro is rounder in the chin guard.

Thank you for actually responding with something relevant to my original post. That's actually something I don't like about the Remedy's aesthetics -- it just looks round like a basketball, at least looking at it from the front. The side profile looks fine.

I really like my TLD D2, especially for non lift served. It's pretty slim, light, and vented. It's not as burly (especially the chin gurad) as other DH helmets but it's so comfortable that I've even worn it on some dirtbike rides.

Got a Cipher to replace my aging Remedy and it fits a bit tighter at the cheeks (in a good way for me). If you wore a medium Remedy and it was tight, you should try on the large Cipher before you buy. Quite comfy and a seems "nicer" in terms of the pads, fit and finish than the old Remedy, but not as slick as the D3 I tried on the other day. I think it looks good and seems lower profile, not too much protruding at the chin guard. Has a nice unobtrusive integrated camera mount if that is important to anyone.
