Just wondering if anybody broke there transverse process part of the vertebrae? Its the knob looking part on the sides.

I just got done getting x ways and was told I fractured four of them in the lower back. Was curious how long it took for you to get back on the bike?

callus calcifies at week 6-8. permanent bone growth/remodelling continues weeks 8-12.

healing done at 12weeks. but strength of the bone never achieves 100% of original integrity.

subtract ~1-2wks if you're young (<20).

i recently had a collarbone fracture (while it's not the same at as yours), i got back on the bike at weeks 5-6 with easy road/paved gravel riding. back on mellow xc trails at 6-8th weeks. full on at 10weeks

where the trails are
A friend did; same injury on one of his cervical vertebrae.
He healed up and was back on his bike (dirt jumping accident) in four months.
To say he got lucky would be an understatement.

What happened Optimax? Regardless, get well soon.

I broke 3 of them. I think 2 of them are completely separated and floating around in my back somewhere. Easiest break to heal I ever had. Was back to riding in about a month.

I broke 13 of them bltches in one slam.

I win!!!! :D

I've got some floaters too. I'm probably a little more of a severe case but my back has never been the same. I did a few other spine related things at the time so it's hard to say what's just the nubs doing it. Muscles are attached to those things so if you've done a good number on yourself, your back will be arranged slightly differently in the musculature. That's where a lot of my issues came from. If they're not displaced fractures, it's pretty much a non-issue. Just let them heal.

But I couldn't stand up for about a month and had to wear a girdle when I did for a while. It was very slimming and puffed my chest out. Those Victorians were really onto something.

The doctor said two months, but from reading here three months.
I did it on a table top during a local DH race. My foot slipped the pedals slamming my ass into the seat. Hit the table with ass on seat and pretty much getting thrown OTB immediately. Head and shoulder hit first than my lower back being slammed into the dirt.

Yeah man, I had several cervical vertebrae myself messed up (3 in total in two different crashes), and I am still paying for it this day. I now have a bad case of arthritis in all my cervical vertebrae's and it still cracks and pops around with little movement. I have healed (somewhat that is...lol) and back to riding two years now, but it has slowed me down from going big or getting to carried away per say.... :D :happydance:

mine was ez, just a t7..How so ever in my old age it keeps causing my ribs to freak out and messes with me. sometimes them injuries you pay for later.

do the best ya can and good luck. dont get lazy on your posture as many do (myself included),, it can be tough to correct later.

Fractured/broke my back 4 times and 2 of those times I sweat for 4-5 days couldn't breath, crap, sleep, move and was easily described as white and noisy pain....so it can be pain full depending on what and how you fracture. The other times were easy, chill for 3-4 weeks and take it easy for the following couple weeks...
Skelaxin helped to reduce inflammation I do t take pan killers no matter what, personal drive to push....

Take it easy, don't sweat it and just take a moment to sit back relaxe and wait it out for a smidge.....

Good luck and dont sweat it, you can't control fate....so do what you want....

Thanks, I'm gettimg better faster than expected. I am limited in range of movement though. No sharp burning pains any more. I do need to get more x rays to see the improvement. I am looking at a spine protector. Thinking about the nukeproof spine protector.
