Sorry if this has been posted before but this is such a long thread. Will the 2013 pushed fox dhx rc4 on this link fit a 2008 factory ironhorse sunday? http://www.tftunedshox.com/Catalogue/PUSH/PUSH/PUSH-ed-Rear-Shocks

Thanks
It will fit but you need to cut the lower link a bit .Just trim it down where the link brace is : )
I did it and it's going strong for 2 years. But my advice is to get a Vivid Air, CCDB air even X fusion Vector Air is a good choice .There is no point to spend that much money for FOX RC4 .Dont get me wrong is a good shock but these new Air shocks are lovely :P
Also if this RC4 is from the new one with smaller shaft this will make it less suitable for the Sunday as this frame needs progressive shock.
Cheers

So I am completely overwhelmed with the options for a new dual crown fork. I am trying to bring my sunday up to modern day performance and this seems way too complicated there are so many options. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am still running my 07 sunday with the stock vivid rear shock and a boxxer world cup. I cant say its great but I can't complain either. With kids etc... I cant spend the time rebuilding a fork every couple of weeks and dont have the time to research like crazy and become a suspension expert. You guys ride them all and I only get out on the weekends to the ski areas, no racing and no crazy drops-too old

I dont mind doing some service to the fork, oil changes are fine but I dont see myself changing shim stacks etc...
Rather go coil than air
High and low speed compression, rebound, sag are about as technical as I get

Kinda ruling out the boxxer due to the maint issues
Considering an avy cartridge for my existing boxxer
Marzocchi 888 rc but it does not seem to have high speed comp
Marzocchi 888 evo but then I gotta mess with shim stacks
Maybe fox is the awnser

any opinions on what works best on the sunday

hi kotajack

get a fox RC4 in the back
and a boxxer up front

don't touch a FOX fork..... it will only want you to service it every day.... (well maybe I'm exaggerating)
but fox forks tend to cry out oil.

Does the CCDB Air fit without trim the linkage/frame?
if you have F7 lower links you dont have to trim much. however I recommend the xfusion air HLR, with dw tune. that is a seriously badass airshock on the sunday

i suggest two options - either get avy cart for your boxxer (35mm stanchions) or find a kashima fox 40 coil. They are going to cost 500 for the cart or 600 for a used fox 40 either way. If you buy a 40, find a 2011+ fox 40 with kashima to make sure you dont get the crappy cartridge with the bladder that fails. make sure compression knobs are on top to tell if its a 2011+

Sorry to ask again if the 2013 rc4 shock will fit, but I thought if I post a picture someone can say definitely yes or definately needs a trim. What do,people think? Also which f linkage is this?

No RC4 will fit a stock Sunday lower link, you need to remove both braces completely for the shock to fit. I have seen people try leaving a small amount of material in the bracing and damaged shocks and links as a result.

That's the F7 link, so if it came on the frame, it is an 07 or later model.

Fair enough and to be honest I just don't fancy trimming the link. So I think I'll get a 2014 vivid rc 2 coil, these seem to fit? Or tftuned are doing the 2012 vidid coils for cheaper. I'll get them to tune it specifically too. The frame in my previous link is a 2008 factory. The advice on this forum is top. Thank you all.

Yeah that's understandable, the 2008 frame should have the little notch in the lower link to clear the original shape Vivid R2C from factory (it was added in 2008). If you can post a pic of the link (looking from the top as much as possible) with the shock removed, I can confirm, but I'm pretty sure you'll have the newer one.

I can't comment on the 2014 shock though, as the adjusters are a little different and may contact the link. Perhaps someone else on here has tried it, I bet it'd work quite well so if it were me I'd just make it fit, but I'd get confirmation from someone if you don't want to cut or grind.

Hey guys. Greg here from zelvycarbon. Yes we are working on building a front end for the Sunday. Geometry will be custom, we will also have an alloy lower link to suit the new shocks very soon. If you are interested contact me sales@zelvycarbon.com. Price will be around a grand aud to 1500. Will also offer a full rebuild exchange service. Long live the Sunday.

Contacted you 2-3 days ago on Facebook, asked you about the carbon front end. but we need pics and info on warranty, Greg, in order to buy your stuff. It's quite the news for me actually on what you're doing, please shed some more light on your work (like weight savings compared to the original). :)

Guys have any of you tried a new VIVID Air on the Sunday ?
I got one 2014 pretty cheap and haven't installed it yet but judging by the pics between 2011 and 2013 the newer one looks wider at the bottom and I think the compression adjuster will touch the link : (
Just dont have the time to try it yet : (
I have cut down my link any way so will be pretty happy if I dont need to do any extra grinding : )
One thing I was surprised though it was the Air can was barely touching the frame :)
Cheers

Hi, Greg, of Zelvy, please also make an aftermarket carbon f7 upper linkage, for those on the budget, and can't afford new carbon front triangle. Sunday owners would surely buy this.

Is the carbon front triangle comes in different sizes S, M, L, (3 molds)? or 1 mold only? M/L.

Is the upright also with cut outs any pics/ drawings?

Planning for the carbon rear end? It should be 650b compatible.

Integrated bump stops on new front is a nice idea i think

Have yet to get riding time on my 6POINT but if ZELVY catches a wave with the Sunday and are later equipped for others like the 6POINT -- top tube bumper for a negative offset stem.
Not sure yet but I think this is a mod that has stayed overlooked, seeing Hope with a +/- 25deg stem for ages. Syntace has one also.

Help needed, Im in the market for a Iron Horse Sunday jus wanted to know what to look for.

How can I tell the difference between say 05 frame and 09 frame ?

Are they prone to Cracking/Breaking anywhere ? certain models stronger than others ? and so on.

Im 6" 3" I know the Large is 19" but thats seems huge to me could i get away with a Medium do you think ? i don't mind smaller bikes, I used to ride a 16" Orange downhill bike.

Any help would be great, thanks

the different you need to look for is the linkage
in the newer models, they made the 10mm hardware
in 2005\6 they had issues with the linkage getting loose (8mm )

Once Dave Weagle and Iron Horse worked out F7 linkages and the E-Max Bearings there were little worries. CY2007 +. I'd also suggest Enduro Roller Bearings for Shock Hardware, now because Chris over there has three fits for inner bearing races and you can tune-out any slop from having these lower shock mount be for all intents and purposes stationary.
It only tips forward very slight when into the end stroke ramp-up.

Psst - go w/ a Large, you're much to big @ 6'3".

Edit - actually I didn't see all your post/. You are 18 inches tall. You'll be just fine on a Medium. Try a Small, why not?? :monkey:

The difference between 05 and 09 frames is in the linkage.

I am 5'11" and riding a Large Sunday without any issues, it has the same reach as a Medium 2011-2014 Specialized Demo, 410mm

Thanks for the feedback this bike popped up for sale, is this a newer model the guy says 07 but i cant tell from this pic ?
Also it has a red bottom link which I was under the impression was made for a BOS shock ?

I am going to put an RC4 on my Sunday, can someone show me a picture of how must the linkage be cutted to fit it?

I am unable to find a cheap second hand BOS link and i am not going to pay 190€ for a BETD linkage, that is just too much for my wallet for a piece of metal.

Has anyone had any problems with a cutted linkage? I'm a bit worried because i'm training with whips and i land sideways a lot.

There'll be no mistaking the 10mm hardware upgrade and the F7 Linkages, those are all Silver. The Hardware does not crossover at all, so any bike having all this will be 2007 or later.

Is there any chance in hell that a 19" Sunday would fit a person who is 5'9"? (32" inseam). Or would it simply be too tall? I am interested in having a longer bike, as that seems to be the trend these days, however, I'm deeply worried about stand over.

A Large could fit you fine, if it's a longer front end you're wanting riding a Med. will not get you there. Standover is not hugely different on Iron Horse.
