Doubling up on a Cane Creek angleset?

I'm getting a used Sunday in the mail in the next few days and I'd like to throw the existing CC angleset I already have in it to slacken it out.

I currently only have two .5 degree cups (top and bottom) for my angleset along with some 0degree cups. However, I am curious might it be possible to order two 1 degree cups and place one on both the top and bottom side of the headtube and get 2 degrees instead of one? If so, how might this affect bearing life? Will I be at risk with gimble popping? I've had this HS in my Jamis Komodo AM HT which I do lots of jumping, bumping and thumping on and have had none of the normally mentioned problems with the Angleset. But then again, I was VERY careful to install it properly (lines, rules and string).

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times over, I searched, but did not see an answer on the interwebs.

PS:This will be my first DH bike and I'm quite excited.

I'm not sure if it would work.
But, why not order a 1.5 and see if that's enough?

Or do those only work with 56mm lower cups?

Can I mix and match AngleSet cups to create different angles?

Cane Creek has engineered, designed and tested Angleset in partnership with a variety of frame manufacturers, up to 1.5 degrees of offset. We don't recommend building configurations beyond what is offered in stock assemblies.

I'd take that as a yes.

I've heard of this, and I don't see any reason it wouldn't work on a Sunday. I think this was discussed in the Sunday thread.

Hey all you haters, I know it's a weird question, but no need to be rude. I did search and search and search the internet before I posted it.
Never ever express reasonable irritation or puzzlement over Ridemonkey e-doucheness. You'll just be dismissed as "butthurt" while we privately congratulate ourselves on our superiority.

I'm glad you found a Sunday your size, mine made its way to Maryland.
I actually strongly considering getting the large regardless. I think I'd have liked a larger frame. I just worked out a deal with another guy that allowed me get more or less a complete bike that I wouldn't have to build up (which, knowing me, would have been quick expensive). Thank you regardless!

Just messing with you by the way. Just trying to say that calling Cane Creek will get you a 100% factual answer. Us, we'll get the facts for you...but in a MadLibs kind of way.

Now...if you're looking to drill holes in stuff, look no further.

Don't the upper .5, 1, 1.5 cups not press in as deep as the lower cup? I thought this was for ease of head angle adjustment.

ChrisRobin : Yes, but luckily Cane Creek makes both angleset cups for upper and lowers. I think this is because some people don't like reach adjustment.

Yetihenry: As far as price goes. Seeing as how I already have a 1 degree top and the rest of the headset. I would just need to buy a 1 degree lower. Which using UniversalCycles as a catalog is around $26. Not bad. And considering The Works is sold out of useable headsets... This is my a good option. I'm just going to try it. Worse case scenario is it doesn't work and I can throw the cups back in my hardtail.

I should have called, you're right. However, I spent all day trying to get ahold of a few other companies because my trail bike broke over the weekend. Hours during the day are sometimes hard to get around to calling companies.

Easy now ice dogg.

I ran a -1 +1 setup for a year on three different bikes (same headset). I had no problems whatsoever and no popping at all. By contrast, my og angleset clicked regularly with a -1.5/0 setup. They redesigned the cups at some point and the second 1 degree cup was thicker and had a notch in it. One of the bikes was an iron horse, but it was a shakira shakira, not a Sunday.

Fwiw, this will void your warranty, you will die, and all hell will break loose. For me, it slackened out a very old bike and made it ride better but caused no problems.

There is a mob in OZ in the process of making a carbon front triangle for the sunday with what ever geometry you want... They are throwing around linkage options to suit different geo and shocks too apparently.

$1000au was the price from memory...
