Let's get back to what really matters:

Making fun of professional 'mountainbikers'

for all those times we were told that "29'ers roll over rocks better", i realize that i never read the fine print which reads "rider does not need to be actually riding bike"

Also, the XC course is causing controversy for being 'too technical'. Hopefully there won't be too many people walking their bikes down the course...

This is pretty steep:View attachment 115330 From here: http://flowmountainbike.com/post-all/worlds-in-the-tropics-cairns-world-cup-and-world-champs-cross-country-course-preview/
Somebody take the Pinkbike ruler away from emily batty.
If you can roll it on an XC bike it does not make for a 6'+ drop, though it may seem that way from atop that skyscraper 29er. She may need to drop the negative rise stem/bar for this one (and realize how dumb 29ers are when you're not tall).

Lies, she just needs a Lenz PBJ

"When you step aboard the PBJ, you realize that it's you that's being taken for a ride, not the bike. It floats underneath you and carries you over anything that gets in your way. 29 inch wheels have a much better rolling speed than a 26er, so the competition using those little wheels will soon be breathing in your dust. If you want to own the downhill courses, and still be able to pedal up to hit the sickest lines, there is no other bike in the world that will suit you more than the PBJ."

To be fair to the XC riders, the Cairns course will be pretty hectic. I wouldn't want to be doing some of that stuff when my legs are jelly after riding at WC race pace for an hour already.

You wouldn't WANT to, but that's not the point. They get paid to ride their bikes. They have super-human fitness. And are supposedly good enough on a bike to warrant making a living. And they do, one step at a time.

I just wanted the time........
Not to flog a dead horse, but I thought I'd mention that if you open the redbull app on a smartphone, go to the live events section, and select the event you want to watch, there is a handy dandy little option that adds the event to your calendar for you. So not only do you not have to guess the time, it's schedules it in for you so your family knows you are unavailable at those times...

I'm looking forward to the course walk videos and Claudio's pre-ride. I'm not sure what to make of the course from the previous linked video.

Hopin' for a win for Mick...

Any news on Stevie? Is he going to try and attend?

Sweet, I didn't know about this. I totally just added to my calendar. Something of benefit to me came about because one guy didn't know how to fish so maybe it wasn't all bad...

I'm looking forward to the whoops speed trap contest and subsequent analysis. Maybe joeg will finally design that 100% rearward axle path bike.
I just wish he'd make a bike with some negative droop travel shoxzors for once.

It'd be a champ in those whoops, I just know it.

I await the speed trap results to see if an unknown Yeti rider takes the top spot.

UCI should also allow WC XC racers to use trail/ enduro bikes!,
like in the WC DH's, gwinner on his evo.

imagine if the evo wins in a wc xc,
spez will market it similar to old GT Zaskar's tag line,

"the only bike to win both wc dh and xc".

Sik Mik hannah for the WIN!

any photos of the carbon sunday front triangle from the zelvy boys.

That would actually be so cool. And specialized could actually build the bike to do it. An extremely custom enduro perhaps - but I don't think anyone believes those zaskars were off the shelf. Just a bit easier to disguise changes to tube thickness and some geometry differences in a hard tail.
A 4" travel enduro with an upside down xc fork might look a little more obviously different to the 7" travel version with a triple crown fork.

Whether or not specialized have an xc rider capable of winning a World Cup is beyond my level of actually paying attention to xc.
