So this is race two with their own pro WC team with a glowing endorsement of their dh bike

I mean to be fair, the last two tracks are pretty bike parky with a **** ton of pedaling.....
year 2 roca Jesús is on the team and they still cant get the damn DH sled correct? The money must have been ****ing killer for gwin to go to specialed

This thread is pure gold.

Part of me wonders if Mitch has an incentive built into his contract where he gets bonus money for every race he chooses to race the Enduro 29 over the Demo.

Uhhh, he probably has it written into his contract that they will only let him ride the 29'er. Probably the whole purpose of him on the team is to hype the 29'er. Not actually contend for a win or overall.

That Connor Fearon vid is from timed practice, but it's his first (slower) run, not the one that put him 2nd behind Gee.

Even though conditions seem like they'd favor a DH bike I'm not surprised by Gwin's choice. He lost every WC on the Demo, then won on the Enduro Evo. Might as well stick with what feels good. I am surprised by Brosnan since he's had good results on the Demo and been riding it for years. I'd love to know why he changed bikes this week.

Two uphills and a sprint finish.
Don't forget TB posted 2nd fastest time of the day at champerey world champs - boy can ride in the wet. Still gutted that the jnrs weren't/aren't telecast at world champs. He was the only rider other than Danny hart to hit that nuts off camber drop that day, clipped in and got all his "dry" lines.

I hate the uci website so much, always makes me feel like a retarded, window licking pig, staring at a washing machine. Where do I find the qualy results?

Wow! Eddie Masters in 4th! Blenky on it again. Karver qualifies. Hannah 25 seconds off.

Rachel by 19 seconds!

Looking at the time gaps there seems to have been a lot of off the bike mud adventures. Going to be a roulette spin for finals.

One of the fastest/gnarliest dudes on the WC circuit thinks a track obstacle is too silly/dangerous and everyone tells him to harden up? Hahaha. I think he might have a slightly better idea than a bunch of keyboard warriors.

interesting splits, Neko 1st at split one, Gwin 5 seconds up at split two and then fell off. Rachel back 5 seconds after split 1 and then pulled back 24 seconds by the end.

Mitch rode his demo in qualifying 29er wasnt cutting it. Just trying to walk through was hard today. Every 2nd rider looked to have a crash after the top 10.

Yeah I'm not married to either side of the argument. I just generally think that anything on a course that has the potential to separate riders is a good race course. People fixate on man made things but you look at some of the rowdier WC courses, riding at 40km/hr through wet roots and doubling up rocks is WAY gnarlier to me, and no one bitches about it because it wasn't man made. Riders just figure out their comfort level and move on. I don't see why this is any different.

It's not like remi thiron puts together some crazy ass gap in the woods and then everyone feels pressured to whine about how dangerous it is.

Plus it just reminds me of butch whining about some big doubles that were built on a national championship course here. Everyone ended up jumping them, they were fine, and then one dude decided he just wasn't hitting his brakes and almost damn near ended his life as a biped. The statistics prove that butch was wrong and just scared as usual.

So in the spirit of keeping butch a whiner, these guys should just figure out the whoops. If after a day of practice they want them out, have the conversation then......not just based on a track walk at zero mph.
I get what you are saying and I'm always for sections that separate riders by skill not fitness and pedal mashing.

I haven't seen the whoops in person so I'm not commenting on them but I just don't like the attitude where riders may never complain about dangerous features. Yes it is true that when one rider complains it is usually him but sometimes the whole field complains and I still hear the dude bros saying real men don't complain. It just pisses me off where real riders now can't voice their opinion because the internerdz think it's not cool.

Also I think there is a difference between something dangerous and something that just bad to crash. The Rockgarden in Maribor is bad to crash in but I rode it and even going at crazy speeds the chance something unexpected will happen is small while the margin for error is fairly big. A bad feature has it the other way around.

@Dan-o read the paragraph above. Difficult and dangerous doesn't mean the same thing.
