I'm assuming that he had another more serious detour from the course at some point. I agree that UCI know better than to disqualify someone for the bit we saw on the feed (if he even did go around a pole in that bit?)

in a single wide, cooking meth...
Lets focus on "how in the flying fvck is peaty still pulling top 10's"

What a fycking monster
Bad back, older than dirt, limited practice runs, no F's given. Him and Greg made that rock garden look innocuous. I may start a new religion based on the Apostle Peat. It will involve beer, splitting wood, and destroying hotel rooms in no particular order.

That poor guy looks like he injured himself really bad! :(

His head is bouncing all over the place and his neck seems to be flexing much more than it should... I hate watching this and I hope he doesn't end up in a wheelchair. :(

Loic Bruni may have been poised and taken the race - great event marred buy that total dumbass though. Was this bike actually trying to get ridden away from the event??

Major props to Peaty - seeing him come down on his run was only made funnier by the fact he'd been given the do-over. Both arms raised across the line... :rimshot:

Someone on the scene told me he's broken his back... no idea if it's a "good" break or a bad one though :S

Yeah that kid's slam was gnarly. Hope he's alright.

I just noticed elliot jackson in 25th. For a guy who can't breathe and didn't race last year, that's pretty badass on a peanut butter coated road race course.

He can breathe again. Read an article that mentioned that he was mis diagnosed as an asthma sufferer. Turns out to be some other obscure affliction, for which there are preventative medication. Still stoked for the guy though.

That spectator must have read the "Gas to Flat" stickers on Adam's bike and really taken them to heart.

That's not 'reaching' for anything, that's being stoked for a guy I've ridden with in common circle of friends getting his best world cup result.

And with two merkans on the podium, there's not much reaching needed.

I think you're thinking of 2008. ;)
not to mention an American in 3rd with a crash. Think Neko would have had that race in the bag. Same spot Loic crashed, but at the split Loic was -~3s. Neko was -0.5.

Pinkbike and EmptyBeerRear have it that the spectator who crashed the bike was walking it down, after the crowd yelled for him to ride, dude went and did.

Looking at things from this perspective I forsee alot of Insurance Adjustments for future races heading skyward. And it's too bad - because this did not have to happen but now it's a huge statistical loss for the Venue and the Series. Only way for the day to reclaim it's posture is to sue the spectator, becuase there's bound to be a slew of Kardashian-esque ambulance chasers with blood money in their eye.

Um, this happened in Australia, not the U.S. It's not gonna be a big deal at all.

I was so bummed for Neko when I saw him go down, even more so when I saw how fast his split was. He was gutted at the line, but then you could see how pumped he was when Blenki came down and couldn't match him. His time is coming, he know's it too. He's the dark horse, soft spoken, no hype surrounding him, results steadily getting better. He's the one people should be watching. He will quickly become the main guy at TWR, Brook is old news and can't keep the pace.

Damn another double win for the GT Fury.

It was really interesting to see the many different ways of getting down that muddy mess and tons of good action.

A bit rough to write off Bulldog like that given he's coming back from major shoulder surgery... But whatever floats your Yankee boat.

Steve Peat & HOPE Tech shed light on that crashing of Adam Brayton's bike - the guy is a known local and although this is regrettable, at least it was not a dorkus mcgorkus fan who felt the need to be a Pro.

Sorry to anyone who knows the guy, since I called him dumbass - sending healing vibes.

From Peaty's instragram on the rider down.

He has 2 broken vertebrae and a dislocated shoulder, (in his words"all fixable") he was doing @adbrayton a favour by taking his bike to the bottom, he didn't steal it!!!! The rumours are now cleared up and I want to say heal fast Ben, no probs about my re run!! I needed it.

Random question. Why do a few of the racers ride in their countries jerseys, instead of whatever their sponsors give them?

If the rider doesn't have world ranking points and therefore wouldn't be eligible to race a WC the respective national federation has the right to nominate the rider. They then have to run the national jersey. This instrument is meant to give riders that can not earn enough points in their local races before the WC season starts or upcoming hopefuls a chance to experience a WC. There is a limit of how many riders a national federation can nominate though.

You can tell yourself Brook will come back, you know, whatever floats your Kiwi dinghy.

I love Brook as much as the next guy, one of my favorite riders on the circuit. Just my expert analysis that Neko will overshadow him. Of course I am biased, Neko is my fellow countryman and semi-local to me.

I remember some people thought I was full of crap when I thought he should get another opinion but I'm really happy that he is doing well. He has a ton of potential and if he can finally train 100% it's great news.

Of course I am biased, Brook has a WC win and multiple top 5's and is recovering from an injury, where Neko just had his best result yet in the seniors. Also, Brook is my fellow earthican, and definitely a local in the galaxy cluster to me.

so what's his affliction? My daughters asthma isn't getting any better.
A comment from the man himself after the news about joining Pivot:

Hey guys! Figured I would jump in on this one!

I will DEFINITELY be racing all of the World Cups, I wouldn't have come back if I couldn't! I think I will be able to bring a lot to the table even if I am not focusing 100% of my efforts on winning them.

As for the Asthma; Apparently I have Vocal Chord Dysfunction which has similar symptoms but doesn't respond to the same treatment. You would think all of these world class doctors would have caught it but I guess not haha. I'm not 100% cured or anything but it's definitely going better than before and I can at least ride my bike comfortably without dying [IMG]

So if he does this good without being 100% I'm really curious what happens when he is cured or fully treated. This only shows it's always worth getting a few extra doctors opinions.
