I have just pressed in my headset , FSA orbit MX all went in nice , straight and smooth with a dash of copper grease.
Now between the heatube and the cup is a gap very thin about 2 bits of paper.
But no matter how hard i wind the tool it does not go anymore l there is no lip in the headtube and the upper and lower cup have exactly the same issue?

Is this the headset? Is it the way these headsets sit in the frame or should it be tight to the headtube?
Just cant work it out.

Thanks for the advice in advance

Was the headtube chamfered? Some facers/readmers have the chamfer built in but some do not. Without it the sharp edge of the headtube will interfere with the radius on the headset cup.
You'll have to remove it to tell

Sounds like the headtube needs chamfered as mentioned above. You can use a deburing tool or a file to do this. If its a new frame or a newly powder coated frame it probably needs faced too. Some headsets fit different, some may have fit before.

Thanks for the replies all , well i have had the headset out i had already removed the powder coat on the face but yes the edges are not chamfered they are sharp edges.
No it is a steel frame dark cycles scarab there is no internal skirt in the frame.
Sp is it just a matter of removing the sharp edge on the inside?
Sort of like countersunk?
