The Osprey packs have quality features I love but mine moves all over when I am doing any sort of jumping or really rough terrain. I love the pack but I am also frustrated by it. The magnet it brilliant, in my opinion.
What about the Ogio Dakar 100 pack, I can get Ogio pro deals as well, anybody with any experience there?

Source have a kit to do that, two little clips with a magnet in each, works a treat on my old pack.

I had one of these for about 6-7 years and just retired it for the exact same model. They are comfortable and allow a massive amount of airflow given the design.Deuter Race X Air, mine is 10 years old and the zips are just starting to die. I bought a MULE to replace it but it was garbage so I threw it in the bin and went back to the Deuter.
I also just got an Ergon BA3 pack that I'm liking for longer rides where I'll need more food and additional layers.
Yeah, but it also falls in the dirt easy whenever you take the thing off or lean down. The hose is kind of long (for it to sit there on the magnet) which contributes to this. I'd take the zip-up-pocket that my camelback has it's hose enclosed in any day and sunday over it. The waist strap is pretty pathetic too, it needs to be larger with a bit more padding.
The rain-shell packed away in the bottom on the other hand, that is genius.

does anybody ride with a hydration fanny pack or at least one that you can throw a few bottles in?? (laugh if you will)
I absolutely despise riding with a backpack...Im good till about 25miles off one water bottle but there are a few rides where I need a second bottle....I tried to ride with my camelbak mule this weekend and it was awful...12mile, 5000ft uphill grind and I was hating every second I had the pack on...I dont even use the bladder for riding because I dont like 50oz of water sloshing around on my back and I dont need 100oz..
The only camelbak one Ive seen is for watersport usage which I doubt would work well for mtb..
I saw this dakine one but it looks a little bulky..and Id have to try to cram a few 12oz bottles in

I have an old school moto fanny pack that fits a few bottles but its heavy and bulky..
I guess there is always the spec swat bibs...

You should get yourself one of those hydration ammo belts that runners use. They're the coolest!

Regardless of sloshing or no sloshing the weight of all that water high up on your back sucks..

I just got a current year Nomad, and it does NOT have an mesh panel to hold the pack away from my back. In fact, it is another molded foam deal, not unlike the older Nomad pack I had before. I purchased it hoping to get an mesh panel...but that looks to be on the Drafter and Amp series packs after looking into it. Is it possible you have them confused?

Drafter, Amp 12, Amp 18 and Amp 25 have the suspended mesh back panel that was introduced last year. Nomad back panel stayed the same for 2014 and the Apex got a new back panel this year. Lots of new packs coming out from Dakine for 2015. The Amp 18 is a rad pack and features the new back panel. Just doesn't carry a full-face as well as the Nomad and Drafter.
@ Banj...It's a slightly different back panel, looks to improve ventilation compared to the one above (and perhaps the same as the Apex this year). I am a big fan of the Nomad design and organization, and I think the mesh back would make it about perfect. I think I'll hold out and see what happens next year, as I have no shame and will keep buying.

No shame with a fanny pack when it's applicable. It's good to have quick access to firearms etc.
I often keep a 380 in mine when riding in certain areas.
I use a small Camelbak with just enough water capacity for long rides and just enough storage for a multi tool and flat repair stuff. My friends laugh at how small it is cuz they've gotten used to carrying way more than they need. Then they try it on and the comment is always, "I can't even tell it's there." Exactly.
I used to use a Camelbak Flash-Flo and liked it. After I killed the bladder (my fault - - neglect), it became a water bottle tote.
