Any Avalanche Fork Cartridge for Marz 888 cr or Fox float X SSD mod user/reviews?

Are there any Avalanche users out there? Is it worth the money?

Im thinking about trying a Avalanche damper for my 13' Marzocchi 888 CR. The damper is not cheap but I bought the fork slightly used so Id still be well under the price of a new fork. It seems like the fork I have would be a great chassis for this damper, Ive been riding this fork since last October and Im always messing with it trying to get a good setting. It is either too soft and divey or it is not using all of its travel but still kinda divey. the rebound is ok but always seems to be either too harsh and poppy or to sluggish and wallows. Ive tried heavier damper oil and that helped. Im 190lbs and using the 6.5k hard spring.

Also very interested in the SSD mod they have for the Fox float X shock for my trail bike. Im using this shock on a 13' Banshee Rune V2. I have to run a lot of sag, like 35% to get all the travel out of the shock and it still feels too progressive all the time. Anyone out there using this on their fox shocks?

Thanks

i dropped an avy cart into a 2008 fox 40 and have been very pleased.

what's your trail bike? i'd look into a CCDB before modifying a shock.

I can't compare it to a 2013, but I put one in my OLD (2004) 888 and it works awesome... It doesn't dive, it is plush and it is consistent.

I like mine... I have one in a 2011 888 Evo ti. I found the individual 'clicks' made a difference while riding. You get a print out from Craig telling you what to increase or decrease depending what you're feeling. I know the vast majority of people here know how to tinker with their stuff but it's nice having that template telling exactly what to do.

I'm considering the 380 since Marzo has a trade-in program. Although the 380 fork offset is still 46mm, the same a the 888, so I'm still undecided.

With mine, the cart is great, his stock tuning was pretty bad for me. Nowhere near enough compression or rebound damping. It needs a special tool to take it apart to reshim it too. I've bought it, but been lazy since it's on my 3rd place DH bike at the moment.

I wonder if you bought my old fork...those 888CRs are really pretty sweet, especially for the price they were going for...around 5-600.

Are you lexdamis from PB? Rad picture of Charles Bronson btw.. he's the ultimate vigilante!

The fork really is pretty good. I could be to blame for the performance issues. I've tried bleeding the damper a number of times but without a proper Manuel from Marzocchi, on the proper procedure, I'm just guessing on how to do it.. they REALLY need to put out a service Manuel for their products.

I would go for it.
I bought a Avy shock for my DHR this year and have been very impressed. I haven't touched to stock tune at all and it feels really good. It's easy to get convinced it's awesome after spending so much money, but it really is the best shock I've ever felt.
If I needed a fork, I would buy an Avy cart. I'll probably buy one for my Revelation, since its damping sucks so hard.
Buying a cheap used chassis and putting good custom damping in it is by far the best bang for your buck.

so long the friction is good, anything of value can be good too.

nope, not me. I sold my fork late in the year, just wondering if that was you. I was quite fond of it, undersprung as it was...

My Avy equipped Totem is far superior to my 2011 888 EVO, however the 888 worked properly from new whereas the RS fork did not. I run a pretty firm spring and don't have the midvalve in the AVY cart.
