FiveTen 5.10 Impact VXi (clipless) - is it worth nearly twice as much money as...?

Guys, I know Impact Lows are "the" shoes for DH.
I've just bought a pair for my wife.

But, I use SPD, and it doesn't seem I will ever switch to flats... unless she borrows me her shoes and pedals for a while ;)

I've been on 661 Filters for years. I like them, but I've got an impression that durability wise, they are good, at most.
Moreover, Filters sizing has just changed a bit (size 40 has gone) + local distro will not have size 39 eur, this year, anymore :(

I've been thinking about Shimano AM45, but, again, there is no size 39 in Poland, neither in Shimano Europe warehouse in Holland.

I can buy Filters abroad at ca. 65eur, or AM45 at 73eur (incl. shipping to Poland) abroad (CRC, Wiggle, etc)

So, here comes THE question: Is it worth spend about 125eur for Impact VXi Clipless?
They look great. I've just read Vital's long term review of flat version... they (Vital) are nearly ecstatic. Shoes are lightweight, dry very fast, but are tough.
New, Mi6 rubber, would definitely help ride the bike, when unclipped. But, it's 70% more money then Shimano AM45 :|

Pls advise!

5.10 is not really worth it if you ride clips, flats then it is kind of the only option indeed. As long as you really dont need to stick your feet out every other corner and/or often struggle to clip back in that is.

However I would definietly take the AM45 over the filters, durabillity wise the filters are sorely lacking

Fortunately, I stay clipped in 90-95% on the time. So, maybe, that extra grip is not that important. And I would keep 50eur in my pocket :)

Only upside though is that a pair of 5.10 clipless is that you can run them with a pair of flats if the occasion arise.

Do you have access to Pearl Izumi?

I've been using the shoe below for about 4-5 years now. They have held together really well, not even the laces have busted after all that time. And I use these for everything from cross country to downhill. They were really comfortable right out of the box too.

The other thing I like about these is the tread pattern. They actually give some grip when hiking up some steep stuff.

I found those pearls far too soft and flexible my feet killed riding dh and and cross country of length. I vote shimano sand import them for the cost. I may try the five tens for next year but for now pretty happy with the shimano a once I could not get vans rowleys in clip less anymore

I have a pair of those pearl izumi's as well.

For XC they are ok, bor DH I'll take my shimano's

5.10's worked best for coursewalks, my shimano's suck for that.

The pearl izumi's are holding up just fine, but they aren't as comfortable as my shimano's for DH riding.

i've got the minnaars. i like them a lot, because i switch between clips and flats about 70/30. it just feels more consistent on my feet, plus if you have to dismount and walk up something super steep and rocky that you can't pedal, its just like you're wearing normal shoes. i guess, i've just always ridden MTB in "skate" style shoes with big flat soles, i tried a pair of pearl mtb specific shoes, hated them. bottom line, ride what you feel comfortable in.

I've got a pair of some cheap shimano woman SPD shoes for my wife. It seems we share same size bicycle shoes :) So, I've ordered AM45 size 39 on wiggle.co.uk for 73eur including shipping! :)
