in a single wide, cooking meth...

Dude is enfuego right now!

Big ups to Grump Atherton for making the show after being banged up. Surprised to see Fearon, Bulldog and Cole so far off the back. And it looks like Myriam went down/had a mech...I'm assuming there's a goodly number of people hitting the dirt today (or riding relatively conservative).

what happened to tracey?

Tracey Hannah's day did not have the best start. A massive crash on her first run left her pretty shaken, but she pulled herself back up to finish 3rd in the afternoon's timed runs.

i n....i need to know that shes okay....my love....

In the Northwest.
Track was absolutely crazy! This track is unlike anything I've ever ridden. The speed was so fast, plus it was muddy, slick rocks, huge ruts, etc. The photos and videos I've seen over the years do not do this place justice. So many broken bikes/parts/people. Lots of flat tires too. All that being said, it was one of the most fun things I've ever ridden. I wish I could ride this track all the time!

An OTB in the woods made me miss the cut by a few seconds unfortunately. Time to get it next week in Windham!

For all of those doing the Vital OTB, my money's on Gwin. Holmes looks on it!

So if you put together a bunch of monkies you can actually make an OK prediction of quali results. A lot of votes for Tbro, brosnan and gwin filling out the top 5. and some extra predictions that were pretty true as well.

Gwin
Hill
Loic, after crashing
Minnar
wildcard

Atherton
Loic did in fact do well after crashing. 18th, not phenomenal, but he did a double scorpion tomahawk in the roughest nastiest section and still got up and qualied top 20. That dude is today where steve smith was 5-6 years ago.

Also,

#1: Gwin. Because even though I live in Canadia now, 'Murica.
#2: Gwin. Because he's gonna stomp it that hard.
#3: Probably somebody like Neethling or something stupid.
#4: Also Gwin.
#5: Nico, because he was bored.
Sure enough Neethling.

Probably because he put up a #2 like 2 years ago and hasn't done anything particularly remarkable since aside from an occasional top 10, where there are easily 7 riders that could take a win right now and nobody would be even a little bit surprised (Gwin, Gee, Minnaar, Bryceland, Tbro, Smith, Bruni)
And to toot my own douchebag horn, by quali results, brannigan was unable to break the top 20, and that you could make as accurate predictions of "dark horse" results by picking a random WC rider's name out of a bag.

If we just start taking averages of RM predictions I bet we get pretty accurate results.

For the women, I think Rach if it rains, Manon if it's dry. Emmeline wildcard either way.Not sure Rach's fitness is back for a full run yet.

For anybody interested, Manon won the womens, and Rachel bumped up to 2nd place, .7s behind her.
Luca Shaw dominated the juniors, because Maricka.

Wow Sam was super emotional great too she him make his way back. His run really looked as fast as it was. They even called it a perfect run when he came down. Really good racing today.

So is Sam Hills bike 650b or 26" because hopefully we have one last hurrah and chance to make fun of 650b for being stupid.

Also, the number of flats seemed to me to be way higher then in the past years when 650b wasn't a thing. I know they're using the same tread pattern with 650b, and presumably the same inserts, but are the sidewalls thinner or what? It seems like this year flats are way more of a thing then they have been since 2009 when everybody was running sharpied maxxis tires.

The only factory team that isn't on 27.5 bikes is Kona.

Yeah its a damn joke. I was looking to compare weights of 650 Steel bead vs their 26" versions. I couldn't find a site with actual weights. If the tire is .5"-.75" taller per side it should be heavier so the 1300gram DHF would be a bit more in 27.5". Wonder if they are running lighter sidewall to keep weight down.

Even if not for the 27.5" thing it seems they are going lighter anyway. Maybe not to the extent of Minnaar running the EXOs in S.A., but you know weight is on their mind.
