Even if not for the 27.5" thing it seems they are going lighter anyway. Maybe not to the extent of Minnaar running the EXOs in S.A., but you know weight is on their mind.
Well we all know how much faster it is rolling down on a flat versus a 250gram heavier tire. Especially if it is slighter bigger......

Thank god "ratboy" didn't win again. Let's all hope that never happens again.
Did you notice how much his speech cleaned up at leogang, right when Loic crossed the line and someone stuck a mic in his face? Downright comprehensible and pro!

He's by far the most chill guy in the race these days. Therefore I hope he wins anything and everything. He's the anti-Gee.

I am so psyched for Sam Hill! Never lost faith in him- was just a matter of time!

Also love seeing Bryceland getting up there- well deserved and love his personality.

what an amazing season for downhill, a different winner every race thus far, probably been a while since that has happened. and two first time winners to boot. I hope we get a different winner for each round this season. Be awesome to see Danny and Loic get their first wins too.

The last 10 riders down made for the some awesome spectating(albeit from my living room). I was screaming my head off for Sam, so stoked he took the win. And to see how emotional he was and hear him say he was tearing up a bit, gotta be happy for the guy.

So is Sam Hills bike 650b or 26" because hopefully we have one last hurrah and chance to make fun of 650b for being stupid.

Also, the number of flats seemed to me to be way higher then in the past years when 650b wasn't a thing. I know they're using the same tread pattern with 650b, and presumably the same inserts, but are the sidewalls thinner or what? It seems like this year flats are way more of a thing then they have been since 2009 when everybody was running sharpied maxxis tires.
Just had this explained to me today - more flats with a 650b because there is more tyre to get a puncture on. Makes sense really. It's heaps longer to get all the way around on a 650b.

Dunno how a 29er can even get down the street without getting a flat.

Seemed to be way higher - that does not seem like a very supported with facts sentence. To me it looked like the same top 10 as always.

Hell yeah Sam. When Josh came down I was on the edge of my seat. Really didn't matter which one of them won, they are equally awesome.

How about Brooks crash? Ouch.

HaHa... too funny, I'm so using this :thumb:

Great to see Sam take a win again but for me MSA is in the same category as a Ft Bill race to watch.. just can't get excited about those two tracks anymore they both need ditched for a few years and replaced with something moar interesting

where the trails are
I watched a bit of the replay and one thing is for sure, the broadcasts are excellent since RedBull tv took over the series. Many more cameras, better production quality, solid streaming, etc. As much as I appreciated seeing WC racing stream via Freecaster, this blows those broadcasts out of the water.

okay so that a pretty fun satuday afternoon!!

here are some of my notes...
-sam hill is the fukin man
-the camera guy at the bottom of the mountain was a friggen idiot ( zooming into tires, bumping into one of the racers stopping after his run, zooming into anything... they must have been stoned to hell and back )
-the stream was pretty ****ty... missed gwins second half of his run cause it skipped and skipped throughout the entire race.. but with streaming and the technology that goes behind it, it boggles my mind, so i dont care too too much...
- this race got me so stoked to spectate at windham

Problem is they are almost the only pretty gnarly dh tracks left on the calendar. Yes I would ditch them in a heart beat for VDS, Schladders, Andorra 2.0 etc but that does not seem to be happening any time soon.

I still miss drunkwarner™ Real content, real info, focused content blah blah blah.........drunkwarner is best warner!

I'm still kind of baffled by the timing of how these guys are putting together the stream. I know it can't be live as in really live but the timing of switching around cameras, moving missed footage back into the stream to catch crashes......it's impressive.

As far as stuttering streams, yesterday was an exception but I usually just look at the end time of the broadcast and then just watch the replay. It seems to work a little better without the whole world trying to get on the redbull server at the same time and if there's a huge course hold, or the stream goes down, you can skip through it. You just have to make sure you don't look at any mtb websites until you watch it :D

not in Whistler anymore :/
if you're having problems with the stream it's your provider that has not bought enough capacities for the network of the content provider. american providers have a history in this kind of behavior, see netflix problems with comcast/verizon and others as they want to get paid by their customers and the content providers

i stream every race in full 720p without problems but we have enought capacities in europe and no ****ty providers

Now, here's the big question from MSA 2014....wtf is that mini-mullet thing that Sam Hill is now sporting? Does it give more or less anti-skwats? Are we now going to see those things poking out the back of everyone's Enduro helmets? Please I hope we do. That will just be the icing on the cake of the Enduro scene.

On the whole Ft William isn't actually all that Gnar at all.. the first 40 seconds is easy peasy manmade berms, a couple of easy jumps and flat wooden bridges, there are only roots/mud for about 20secs of the whole track, the wooded section is flat as **** and the last 40secs is just a pedal fest with a few long table tops/doubles..

Bring back any of the proper Mountain tracks from the late 90s-mid 2000s

Are you kidding? Almost every rider was loving the MSA track + the changes they made. It's long, fast, rough and proves who's got the best all around fitness and skill. Better then sending WC riders to the middle of nowhere to ride in a snake infested mud pit.

Wow, Sam on top. Whodathunk? He definitely took some chances doubling over things. So impressive!

I agree, the redbull broadcasts seem much more pro vs. freecaster. But I miss the racing DVD recaps freecaster used to provide. And I REALLY miss the Earthed Series. Heck, I could even go for some of Clay Porter's "Goonies" bells and awkward face/eyes panning closeups :D Just give me another option to webisodes! LOL

Rad as fvck. Both dem bishes are crazy fast, but it looked like Manon really made up a huge amount of time in the lower rock sections. It also seems to suggest that Rach was pretty whupped by the time she got there, so Capt. Obvious thinks she's still the clear number 1 when she's fit/not sick.

Probably also #1 on a two minute track.
