At 37 I don't consider myself a slob but when it comes to my endurance and stamina.... they're the sh!ts.

Glad to hear everyone else is old too.

At 30 I can no longer drink heavily all night on Saturday and make it to the first run on Sunday morning. I get the worst hangovers now. It's bloody cool to see that, from this thread, I just need to harden up!

Try changing your brand of beer.. I can still happily ride all day after 14 pints the night before but 3 or 4 Stellas and I'll have a horrendous headache by lunch time (basically when I've sobered up)

I rolled my ankle rock climbing yesterday.

Drank scotch last night.

No hangover this morning (good scotch is worth the $), my ankle is about the size of a softball though. I did ride this morning, relying mostly on the opposite leg and not going too high off the jumps. I can barely walk...but I can ride.

I'll be 39 this month. I'm the best I've ever been on and off a bike. I refuse to be pathetic like many of my peers or younger people I know. I will fight father time until the bitter end, until my last heartbeat and breath I draw.

So I'm not the only who gets unnecessary hangover effects from drinking a couple Stellas vs. other beers. That's good to know.

I thought I was just a washed up twat when two of those gave me a headache, but then five of something else with higher alcohol content did nothing to me, so I went back to thinking I'm a golden god.

spent my 45th and 46th Birthdays in WBP , was just up there on the 23rd and did 4 1/2 runs starting in Garbo zone with a bad crash half way thru one run , i,m still hurting from it LOL , only called it quits early due to it raining sideways and i could not keep my hand on the bars after smashing it on the ground 2 runs before.

That's like 20 bottles of beer. Pretty sure I'd be dead D: I'm more of a rum or red wine drinker but do enjoy a Fat Yak pale ale or similar

Yep it's amazing the difference quality spirits can have when it comes to hangovers. Good effort on the ride!

Anyone suggest a light beer that doesn't give a hangover? I also need a nice whiskey, or scotch, or cognac for winding down after work.

14 pints would put me in 'black-out mode' and then passed out on the sidewalk.

No idea what a light beer is but try Carlsberg export or Heineken export.. Both 5‰ (same as stella) taste a hell of a lot better and no real hangover..
20x440ml cans is not unusual for me in a night.. and then I'll still ride home, 24 (a full case) and it gets a bit wobbly.. But you have to take into account the fact I am Scottish

It's not because people spend twice as long drinking it because they are smelling it, swirling it, commenting on the taste and how they know everything about the world because they drink fancy spirits?

I always found the fitter I was the better I'd wake up, from 18-21 a night out was 40 standard drinks and I'd rarely be hung over, now I'd be vomiting blood. if I tried that. The more I'm on the bike the more I seem to be able to drink without being hungover the next day.

I was drinking with friends the other week and they were circle jerking each other and talking about how they feel good the next day when they drink preservative free beer all while we were eating bag after bag of chips and beef jerky both containing preservatives.
At closing time I had to have three extra beers as the others were talking craft beer and assessing colour, flavour and smell and didn't have a chance to actually to drink their beers.

My beer connoisseur scale- crap, ok, nice, I couldn't give a toss what it has an essence of or what colour the head is.

I am old, I like to rant about people over complicating the simple things, it's a ****ing beer, put it in your stomach!

stella does the same to me. i think when a-b-inbev got a hold of the brand they started adding sub-par ingredients (and possibly rice) like they do with all their other piss waters.

Stella is advertised here as containing "only 4 ingredients" Hops, Barley, Maize and Water".
**** knows what they do to those 4 ingredients or where they get them from but I'd rather have a good batch of chemicals any day. ;)

Just turned 48 in June, ACL reconstruction on the left knee in December to match the right one done 14 years prior. Nagging back problems from a skiing accident when I was 18. Moving a lot slower these days, all the years of sports are finally catching up with me. I'm not doing down without a fight!!!! Getting slower? Unfortunately yes, but I'll keep chugging along as long as I can!

Holy shlt dude.

I used row (yeah that 'crew' thing) which was by miles the best shape I've ever been in. I'd hork down about 5 thousand calories a day, still lose weight, and had by far the lowest alcohol tolerance of any other period in my life (college years, so that same age bracket). It was kind of a running joke how easy it was to get a rower drunk. When I went to bikes and not the insane training schedule from crew, that stopped. That was a weird physiological period.

Was nothing out of the ordinary I don't think, just seemed normal to have a bottle of whatever before you went out then the same when you got there then get up at 8 for work(I could walk to work though).

I keep seeing the people in the dragon boats and I'm seriously thinking I should have a go, would be great for my old man shoulder and ankle.

My knees were hurting then it started raining soon after, I hope it was a coincidence, I don't want to be the person that predicts the weather based on joint soreness.

I'm 31 now and riding as fast as ever lately (on the DH bike anyway, fvck that climbing stuff). I was kind of sickly and under weight through most of my twenties, now I'm actually able to keep weight on and feel a lot stronger. I just don't recover as fast from injuries.

35 and I feel 50. I'm not any slower on the big bike, or any of my bikes for that matter. But it takes forever for me to heal these days. The only upside is that I can pedal harder for longer, but that is probably more that my mentality has changed than anything else.
