That looked steep even in the video. I like this kind of more natural style courses.

I really hope Ratboy will take the win. That would be the proper way to win the overall.

Thats a short enduro course, but I like it anyway.

I also have reservations about the bounce house at the bottom, which could be disastrous for Ratboy's facial condition if him and Dale start "horsing around" again. I'd suggest that he follow my lead and always wear a full face when exercising your liver.

I think Hill might throw down another special run
Agree. If they tape that course wide to allow creative line choices, Hill could definitely pull off a win there. I know, because I read a lot of internet, watch the live broadcasts while intoxicated and some times even ride my bike down hills.

Wild Card track. Rough, rugged, and fast - there are a solid 6-10 guys (depending on conditions) who could take the W here. I'm not betting on anyone, I think we are in for a surprise.

I fear that the days of anyone doing something like champery 07 or VDS 08, or Hart Champery '11 are in the past.

Just watched that video again....DAYUM I'm stoked for this race. I want to ride that course.

going to be an interesting race, AFAIK its a new track, so the whole field will be dealing with that. I would love to see yet another winner on the season, instead of someone getting their 2nd or 3rd(rat). I will forever root for Sam Hill, I am an admitted fan boy, so he takes priority over anyone. But I would love to see Neko, Hart, Blenki, too many to list, get a win.

Well tell that to Ted Ligety, if he can smoke people in what is known as a "small" margin sport I dont really think the days of wonder runs in dh is past just yet. Unlikely, sure (especially on on bike parky kind of tracks) but a new course that has Hill written all over it I still think there is a good possibility that he could throw down something special (as in 5sec win not 15sec win). And give it a sprinkle of rain and the stage is set for a wonder run!

Either way it is going to be friggin exciting racing there, tight in points and so many on good form an hungry to win.

Surprised no one has picked Gwin to get weird on this track--he is actually the most recent victor by ludicrous margin (7 seconds) at the 2012 VDS race. He's having a pretty damn good year as well.

That said, Bryceland. He is riding with all the confidence that Stevie was at this point last year. Can't wait to watch this race.

agreed; those runs run chills almost haha its incredible. and of course warner ramps up the intensity by 9000....

im bad at guessing riders who will win, but seeing Hill go sidewinder-missile style would be awesome

I agree, which is why I selectively choose to ignore VDS 2012 when Gwin won by 7+ seconds.

Just because it didn't happen last year doesn't mean it can't this one.

Edit: particularly on a course as rad as this - its long, its got a bit of everything, and it even looks steep in a helmet cam video.

Is it next weekend yet? This track looks incredible!

I'd love to see Hill take it again but to be honest I don't think I really care that much, I just want to see some footage of the top guys smashing it!

Can't wait for the vital raw footage!

NORCAL is the hizzle
Ratboy managed to find time time on a short "one line" track last weekend, and this longer course has more opportunity for that kind of thing. He's more fit than ever, he's super motivated, and he'd love to bring it home for the team. If he can handle the pressure he'll take it.

Hill please!,

*but i want the assymetric demo c to win this time, (TB or Gwin)!

questions:

1. Hill's win at MSA world cup, was it the first WC win of a dh racer wearing a neck brace?

2. If any of this years WC winners, wins here at Meribel, will he take the overall?

Not sure, Gwin and Atherton used to have neck braces as well on some past seasons, but did they win any race while wearing one?

At least Hill has won the 2010 world champs at the Mt Sainte Anne with a brace.

Top 5 bros:

1.) Johannes Fischbach - Fish comes blasting through the Maginot Line with unexpected aggression and fury to take the top spot. Afterwards he takes a tour of Paris and casually absconds with a few art works at the Louvre.

2.) The Alien - Sporting a sick Lacoste enduro specific waist bag, Nico stuns the WC circuit with a blistering blast from the past, which is especially impressive given that he's riding a Sunn Chipie.

3.) Fabien Barel - Astride a new Mondraker with a 72" wheelbase and 47* head angle, Barel returns to glory, wildly waving a French flag after his magnifique run. He also eschews the lift throughout practice and takes his car to the top.

4.) CG - between shot gunning/spraying beers and grabbing his crotch, the CG of yesteryear shows up on the podium after an absolute burner run (replete with no-handers and dirty sanchez nose swipes). He also makes a point of punching Barel in the neck when he breaks out the flag.

5.) Gerard Depardieu - Another shocker, as the decidedly portly star of the silver screen sneaks back to France from Soviet Russia to take the last podium step. He uses his incredible bulk to just straightline the whole course, smashing padded trees and lift towers all the way down. Sadly, his 17" rotors finally give up the ghost at the finish line and he plows into the cheering crowd, killing 14 spectators in the process (of which, he eats 3 of them to replenish his expended calories).

Top 5 Dames:

1.) Manon - rough and long suits this cheeky lass.

2.) Rach - Like MSA, she's still not enough quite fit enough to hang on for the win

3.) Ragot - all is right with the world again

4.) Nicole - hoping for a french kiss when she receives her obligatory bouquet on the podium

5.) Hannah - see above

* what i think we will actually happen -

1. Rat
2. Loic
3. T. Broz
4. Hill
5. Gwin

Btw, does anyone know if Smith will be back for this, or is he going hold off until Champs?

I think he'll win by a nose.

Seriously, when is it? Redbull has a countdown to the weekend but not the DH race. The UCI website is useless. I'm assuming it's Sunday due to XC. Anyone got a time? Trying to plan my weekend here. Thanks

So the race is in 2 days... No track walk photo epics yet, no videos, no rider interviews saying how sucky the course is... What's going on?!

Oh and Redbull is telling my calendar the race is on at 8:15 East coast time...

All the media folk are probably still hung over from Crankworkx. Heck, Vital only got one slideshow up. WE WANT MOAR!!!! :busted:

I'd guess within the next few hours something will popup. Bets on Claudio or whoever is following him getting wild? He should drag Rob out of his commentary box and get him to do the course previews with him. The one he did at Val Di Sol a few years ago was great, he pooped the entire way down.

Can't find it on their homepage.:(
Can't believe, this is the last WC race of the year. They need at least two races more I reckon.

Danny Hart wins the race in true Champery manner. Steep, technical, maybe wet. It's his WC.

Second Badboy Bryce, taking the overall title. Sessler will start french kissing Sir Peat in the finish area: "The kid is grown up now." Waking up from the afterrace party Bryceland will have short hair, a wife and two black eyes.

Third will be Hill, because Champery.
