So for those of you who have ridden Whistler, there is a really sick step down on the Canadian open course near the bottom that comes out near the bone yard. If you're smart, you check it out before you hit it. Apparently I am not smart. Came up on it, didn't realize it was there, or as big as it was and came up 100% short and landed completely to flat, front wheel did not make the tranny whatsoever. My guess is that its 8-10ft drop to flat? Some of you would know better probably. For the record I ALMOST rode it out. And it is a really weird feeling having the bars bend that much while you're still holding on.

So to the bar review. Basically this is a lesson on why you use high rise bars with high limits plastic deformation. Flat bars would NOT be able to do this. Brand new, unbent bars are in the background for reference.

Review: A++++++

Got OCD version of this bar and i'm loving it! Much stiffer and stronger than Deity Dirty 30 i had last season. 285g, 800mm wide, 20mm rise and super comfy.

in a single wide, cooking meth...
Not that weight is by any means the ultimate indicator of strength, but 285 grams is pretty damn light for a 800 mm, 31.8 mm bar. Seems like most of the alum 31.8 wide stuff is in the 325 gram range. Regardless, glad your teeth are still in your head.

That's fvckin manly.

If you're going to suck at bike riding, you might as well be a badass about it. :D

I've got a set of the mega bars and I don't know what's going on at the clamp surface but the tube thickness at the grips is insanely thin, like too thin to get most bar end plugs to get a purchase. I think that's how they get them so light. I imagine they taper the thickness right around where yours bent. But if that's what they do when you death grip bench press them, I'm sold.

It's like 4-5 feet. Just kind of far out if you blow a turn in front of it.......so you are going fast. But nowhere near 9 feet high.

Seriously.
This is true.

I've got one of their flat bars. I wish it had a little less sweep but it's held up well.

Rotate bars 180deg, BOOM, riser bars again AND will lower your front end to be more inline with cGMBP* practices. You're welcome.

No way. Granted, I didn't get a good look at it because I was too busy crashing. But that thing is at least taller than me. Hell I can probably roll 4-5 foot drops. That crash was one of the hardest hits I've ever had. No way its only 4-5 feet. I'll get a closer look tomorrow though just to sure though, I've been wrong before.

I'm all about image, not actual skill or anything.

Interesting. Are there any other 800, 50mm rise bars? It would be interesting to try something heavier/stiffer. I think it might be more ideal to have some greater elastic deformation in a bar to keep chatter from rattling your brains out. But if these are known to be weak as far as plastic deformation limit, it could be worth trying something stronger.

Edit: Just double checked, I see the bar listed as anywhere between 371g to 395g. Where did you see 285g?

Also, it's hard to tell in the picture, but I'm running about 1" of NSB stem risers on there. I'm impressed the extra long stainless bolt didn't shear or anything. I'm not even running grade 8 or 10 bolts on there. I'll have to see if they bent at all.

The Torsion (6061) is in the 380g range. The OCD (7050) is about 100g lighter.

gemini2k, You have normal Kore Torsion 6061-T6 alu double butted version, I was talking about Kore Torsion OCD 7050-T6 alutripple butted version that i have. Both have the same length, rise and Up/Backsweep.

Funny how Whistler makes you fee invincible, until it proves you're not.

And it's super sweet to see a debate about the size of a drop. It's been way too long. Thoughts on vertical drop vs. distance from lip to landing? Pics and graphs? Come on people, it's the off-season, let's get to it!

Dude I hit these big jumps called crabapple. Gotta be like 80 feet. At LEAST!

That shlt will crack me up forever. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. :D
Now you're just being silly dude. They're like 60 feet TOPS. About the size of the gap that McGarry backflipped.

You really want me to describe things I've ridden in millimeters?

It's not a braggadocio thing, it's a complete lack of judgment thing. I know non-bike riding people who think their ceilings are 12ft high. It's universally human, not just sporty boasting. Bike riding or not, people just overestimate things. And it's really easy to do on bikes.

I unintentionally attempt to underestimate, and even then I still over estimate, so I know what you are saying....

Oh, and yes, mm's please.

Holy fvck... WCH needed those bars 10 years ago...
Since we're arguing about drops, how big is the big drop on Dwayne Johnson if you hit it from the far left? I hit it last year following a couple buddies off it but never looked back to actually scope it...
