So how many of you will be on 27.5(650b) for 2015??

Since this is probably my last DH bike, I'm thinking no. Seems to "run over shit" good enough for me.
Plus my resale is probably shot all to hell, and even though my bike is a 2013, it has 26" wheels, aluminum frame, and 31.8 bars.

Nope, dh bike is a carbon operator and i just bought a sweet 26" dt swiss wheelset.. i do ride 27.5 on a banshee rune though. I dont feel that much of a difference. Only in the corners and I like cornering on the 26" better.

Damn, is it just me on 27.5 from 2015 on, then? :D
Plus, hopefully, enduro on middle wheels from 2016 ;)

Fyi, IH sohon bucho can fit a 650b wheel...

I'm going to 650 as I'm building a new bike. Not so much for the "it's better for some reason" idea, but rather because that's what the industry is changing to. Since I can't find a good 26" hardtail for the past 7 years, I'm thinking that it will keep getting harder to find good 26" stuff in the future. Luckily it's just rims, tires and the fork that are changing. If I for some reason want to go back to 26", I'll be able to.

Nope. I did have to go to 157mm rear spacing, but just had some $10 spacers made. Fuck buying a new hub. Also, just finished building a new 26" trail bike yesterday. The deals to be had on 26" stuff are too good to pass up.

No on my AM bike and No on my DH bike. They both work great. I have no issues with 26. The financial loss to switch is ridiculous. I rather spend my money on real performance gains.

My new bike is 27.5, but I'll be testing running 26 on it as well - more to run a taller fork and drop the bb rather then because I hate the 27.5 idea. I actually think larger wheels could be good on a DH bike; it's on shorter travel/wheelbase bikes used for carving up tight singletrack and boosting off small trail features that I think I'd prefer 26".

Next DH bike will be, next trail bike will be. Mostly due to what's available.

However no plans for new bikes anytime soon, so that's a neg for 2015.

I was running 650b on my tr450 all last season, this year I'll be doing the same on a tr500. It's not for everyone, but it works for me.
Actually last season I made the switch on my trail bikes as well. I bought a kona process 134dl as a backup and made new drop outs for my Covert.

I'm going to have 5% more fun than you neanderthals in 2015.
Sold my trail and DH bikes and replaced them with a carbon/enve'd trenduro.
Now I just need to replace all my 26" clothing, buy a fanny pack and train my shuttle donkey and I'm set for next year.

I am riding 650b for DH, not by choice, but by available choices.

I will likely be going from a 29" trail bike back to a 26 if I can find the right one used, if not I'll go 27.5

We all make jokes about 29ers, but I feel like this whole 650B thing is a massive repudiation of 29. They've been pushing 29 on us for a decade now, but 650B is being readily-adopted about 500x faster. I'm gonna guess that more riders are readily switching from 29 to 650b than 26 to 650b.

Is the death of 29 coming?

I suspect there will always be a market for 29er XC bikes, especially hardtails, but I think it is telling that Giant for instance only has one full squish 29er in their lineup (Anthem). Although I'm assuming Niner will continue to offer wagon wheeled models for the foreseeable future :thumb:

I'll have my enderpo because I'm a fucking 29er f^ggot and also a 29+ hardtail because I'm a half-fat 29er f^ggot

but if I come across the money to buy a dh bike, it'll be 26. I'd be all over a DHR if I rode enough to justify it. Otherwise I have too much damned fun with used stuff to worry about 650bad.

I agree about the shift from 26 to 650b. It's like everybody wanted bigger wheels, but nobody wanted to be a 29er f^ggot. Now everybody is adopting 650b as fast as they can spend the money. 29ers are pretty much dead aside from hardtails, but 26 is pretty much dead completely.
