In hell. Welcome!
We all live in North Korea, only most of us have not realized that, yet. ;)

All six or seven frames in my household are 26", some I run with 650b wheels with the option to always go back. I don't think I will though.

="rpet, post: 4024914, member: 4622"]We all make jokes about 29ers, but I feel like this whole 650B thing is a massive repudiation of 29. They've been pushing 29 on us for a decade now, but 650B is being readily-adopted about 500x faster. I'm gonna guess that more riders are readily switching from 29 to 650b than 26 to 650b.

Is the death of 29 coming?[/QUOTE]
Probably. I just bought a SS 29R Hardtail. Just cuz.

All my bikes remain 26" for next year. 29er is fully out of scope for me, 27.5 does not make much of a difference on my level. Will be the old grumpy guy people can point their fingers on. :)

If I switch it'll mostly be for the sake of curiosity. Since I use my DH bike more than the smaller bike, it'll be on that. My New Year's resolution is go trail riding a hell of a lot more.

I predict that in 2015 I will (again) be riding 24" more than any other wheel size. Yo:

...and occasionally on my 26'er trail bike. Rode this weekend surrounded by 29" wheels, I was sooo self conscious.

29 for distance.
27.5 for speed in rough.
26 for fun
24 for more fun but less forgiving in rough.
Different tools for different jobs. Most overlap, decide what you favor more. Loved my 29er Canfield today footpath carving on an hour commute. No other wheel size would have got me there with as much fun in the same time frame.

I agree about the shift from 26 to 650b. It's like everybody wanted bigger wheels, but nobody wanted to be a 29er f^ggot. Now everybody is adopting 650b as fast as they can spend the money. 29ers are pretty much dead aside from hardtails, but 26 is pretty much dead completely.
Really?!? Can't remember any single discussion back in the 26" days that went like: "Ohh, really nice bike, if only the wheels where bigger!!!"

We wanted better suspension, brakes, geometries, chainguides and stuff... but, bigger wheels??? Honestly, who was concerned about wheelsize???

I'm ditching the DH bike for 2015, doing DH on my Enduyolo bike, which is 27.5

It's not that people wanted big wheels then, as big wheels didn't exist then....but 29ers came about, there are advantages, people wanted to take advantage, but the pinkbike crowd didn't want to be labeled as spandex wearing 29er riding homos, though they saw the advantages. Then "the industry" took advantage and went full speed behind 26...just my opinion though.

1. you mean they went full speed behind 650b?
2. 650b has existed for quite some time, the industry was just ignoring it due to 29'er.

I just bought my first 29'er and I couldn't be more disappointed that I spent the money to do so. Luckily it was not a lot of money and was a used hardtail, but I can't wait to make it go away.

I went 650b on my DH bike this year out of necessity. I will likely go 650b for my next trail bike as I don't see a lot of 26" options out there that I am in love with, unless I decide to find something used.

…not a DH bike, not an “Enduro” bike, not a Freeride bike..

Packed in the idea of n+1 and having a bike for each discipline, sold everything in the garage and bought this, hence forth just known as “my bike”

Have a heavier set of wheels (w/ Dual ply tyres) + Coil shock for when I do uplift days

Poverty cranks on there at the moment while I wait for my RaceFace NExl SL, but she’s pretty much done.

Googling for "Testicle in an egg cup" sorted my profile pic... I might use it for my Linked-in profile too.... hopefully scare off dickhead agents

The Caddy's tinted and has some mags on, but I'm not a "car person", so just bought it like that and pimped no further. Plenty folk keep moaning at me saying I need to drop it further etc - but I can't be asked :p

@Mo(n)arch , nah I'm used to slack bikes and the way they steer and sold the PIkes immediately / unused.

The Standard pike is 42mm and the offset on the "special" one is 46mm. The Fox36 has a 44mm offset, so really not a world apart form what Giant "intended" the bike to be used with. I highly doubt I'd feel much difference, particularly only 2mm.

I had marzocchi 350CR forks on a similarly slack bike - the offset of them being 40mm. I can feel a slight difference in the accuracy of the steering of the Giant compared to my previous bike, but perhaps that's still just the "OMGNEWBIEK" feeling from riding something you just spent a lot of money on.

its funny that this thread is here now. started my job at the beginning of 2015 and am debating on how to blow my monies.

if i build another bike, i keep telling myself 'its to get my dad into riding'. the one criteria that has to be met is that its not a 26" wheeled bike, which is funny cause i thought i would never say that. ive already got a bitchin 26" wheeled bike, and i want to try one of the bigger wheel sizes.

im really considering the on one codine for a niner, its the only wagon wheeled frame that i think i would consider currently (the price is also seriously killer). im just worried i wont like the bigger wheels, or it will be too much of a 'change' from the 26ers that im so used too. but i have also been considering a couple of 650b sized rigs... i guess it comes down to what i can get a decent deal on the frame when the time comes.
