Even my rusty bucket of a Mazda didn't have a leak.

Not sure if its just luck, but my mother just got rid of her second car, which has a sunroof. I only mention this because it was a Dodge Neon with just over 280000 miles (a lot of these were put on it by me in high school to boot). One of the shittiest cars ever made, never leaked from its shitty sunroof.

VWs don't leak. They just stick open, right?

Then again, stoney has shown us that Subarus aren't immune to such things, either. Oh, wait: he left it open. I guess Subaru gets a pass. :D

Shared Skittles: so your F-150 has crank windows then?

Went and bought the car today and everything seems ok so far.
Usuall scratches and stuff you'd expect on a '99 but the engine sounds good and it handles like its allmost new.
Cruise control and climatronic work and the tires look like they dont have more then a couple hundred miles on them.
Id say for something that doesnt look like a turd, its pretty hard to beat for $1400...

my daughter is begging me to get the new TDI golf sportwagen. She says, Daddy that wagon will carry all our crap, and when you take me to bike races, it will be better than that tiny car. I am having a hard time arguing with her. I think she is right.
Drive the GTI and you will forget all about the Sportwagen.

Yah - the whole leaky sunroof thing. Yuck.
I have had 8 VWs with sunroofs and none of them leaked. The drains can clog and back up over time if you don't clean them out.

Well, you were right. I have been SO indecisive over this for months, so I finally went to test drive the GTI and Sportwagen. As soon as I got out of the GTI, the guy said do you want to drive the wagon now, and I said, Nope, not at all. Ha, the new GTI rides incredible. Even taking away the sport part of the drive, it is just a very solid feeling car with great suspension. The new ones are also really roomy and comfortable inside. Decision made. : )

The suspension is pretty dialed and the new 2.0T pulls hard. Consider the Performance Package if you can find one so equipped. The LSD makes it very desirable. And the APR tune...I need to stop thinking about this car before I do something I shouldn't.
