Been pretty happy with my 170 fox 36 27.5, but had been keeping an eye on the lyrik. No 20 mm = I am disappoint.

This was an interesting move for them, pretty unexciting for the most part. I have given up my dh bike and begun riding a nomad for everything not full xc. This might actually suit me nicely but can understand why the world is up in arms.

Only positive news is a charger upgrade kit for the "old" Lyrik
Considering that tapered steerer SoloAir Lyriks are dirt cheap right now, this upgrade option is not insignificant, IMO, if you're still in the 26" boat.

Since they were the only significant ones that tried to hold out, I'd say yes.

Bracing myself for boost 110 dh forks...

Did you really ever think any of those things would be on the table? Read the writing on the wall.
As flo33 implied, the Fox 36 comes in 26", 20 mm axle option (the *only* option with the 180 mm travel model) - so it is a little surprising to me that RS didn't keep their toe in the nano-wheel water, especially since they've offered every imaginable size and axle combination in the past.

But props to RS for also offering the charger cart for the older model Totems, which perhaps in their mind serves as their "26" model.

Doesn't matter to me anyway since I'm busily buying up all the old Zochs (including SC Shivers) so me and maxyedor can retire in style after we sell them for massive margins in Poland. May even buy Greece in the impending fire sale...I do like fresh olive oil (which interestingly, works fantastic in open bath Zochs)

And for anyone who has not ridden the new 36 with the 20mm. It is damn awesome. It is just a stiffer more solid feeling fork than the Pike, and I prefer the damping on the Fox as well with adjustments that let you dial it in just right.

And they've actually increased the damper service interval to 125 hours, which while not 200 like the Pike, is making progress. Some don't pay much attention to that number, but it's been a substantial issue in my experience with closed cart forks - regardless of many times you change the oil in the lowers.

Agree 100%. The Pike is a great fork, but the 36 tops it.

Keep in mind my new company (Croaked Zoch, LLC) will be offering gently used single crown Monsters - which will simply be a Monster with the top crown removed. With the SC Monster, you get a 20 mm axle, 26" friendly , none of the abysmal bushing slop found in modern Fox and RS products, the stiffness of 40 mm stanchions (but not too stiff like the 2013 40s), easy service open olive oil bath system (we call this Roman Bath Technology), 1.125" steerer and a meaningful weight savings by jettisoning the top crown. You can also use the extra top stanchion space to hang your goggz or even a sweet enduro fanny pack (that way it will be less likely you'll forget where your weed is). Just need to make sure you *really* crank down on those stem bolts.

I will even throw in a user manual written in coptic.

Looking forward to joining mtg in the flying hot tub of lawsuits.

back when the revelation was first introduced, the only big difference between that and a pike was the 20mm axle on the pike.
I thought the main difference between the 2 was the number of letters in the names.

But back to the new Lyrik, they at least claim the new lowers make it stiffer and thereby keeping it from binding up every couple seconds like the Pike does.

I haven't picked apart either but I've been told that's not the only difference.
I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. I'm just saying, the current RC2 damper is very good, and I think it's unlikely that they improved it enough to overcome the negative that is the 3 position shit (for me anyway).

But yeah, it's academic. I've got all the trail bike forks I need.

Not trying to start a shit storm here but are people really noticing the difference between a 15mm axle and a 20mm?
If the chassis is stout enough (apparently stiffer lowers than the pike) I don't really see why people are complaining about a possible lack of stiffness.
