Wow, nothing says ball sports doldrums like jeebus actually caring about bicycle galas. Gwin is just fortunate WC races don't occur during late tacklesport season, which as we all know is his preferred past time.

There's a reason the race is on Saturday. Jeebus is way too busy with NASCAR on Sunday.

Just got done watching the rerun. What an amazing production Redbull put on. So many cameras, well put together all for free. Friggin nice.

Anyways, what a run by Vergier. And what a run by Gwin. How he pinged through those rocks was amazing. Like controlled chaos. It was like he was ready to sacrifice a few spokes. Brosnan looked to be on a flier as well.

what a great race.

What a race.
Gwins run was completely nuts. Like Hill in Val di sole he was totally on the edge, but whitout crashing in the last turn.
Ratboy in the whoops was so cool to watch.
Bruni with the entry through the rocks on this left hander. The kid is so good, but has so much bad luck. I couldn't believe that he got a puncture.

I am more and more a fan of Minnaar. The guy is a pure class act.
How he went to Bruni and was gutted for him showed a lot to me. "When do you finally get some luck dude?"

God damn why couldn't have attendance been this good the past few years?
I agree. It was a huge crowd compared to last year. What a shame it's not coming back next year.

these ^
no windham or even any US stops for '16 makes me seriously bummed. what a bangout
where is the shotgun in the shop for this monday?

first time windham had something that looked like a crowd, what happened?
possibly a good amount of people knew it was the last race

fuck... what a race

Agreed, although I might add Gwin's grundle punching of the field at VDS a few years ago (maybe 2012?) where he won by like 7 seconds or something. Interestingly, Minnaar finished 2nd in that race as well. Point being, given how hot and dry it seems to be Yurp these days, we may be in for another Gwin top rope elbow drop at VDS. My guess is he almost has the overall wrapped up with Loic's result, but perhaps GM is close enough to force him to finish with at least a decent result at VDS (i.e. basically don't DNF).

Not sure about the dryness in the homeland at the moment. It is hot, yes, but there are thunderstorms rolling in almost every day at the moment. I don't think that Val di sole is that dry at the moment.
I will definitely try to get to the race and bring my best cowbells.

Overall points now:

1 GWIN Aaron 1089
2 MINNAAR Greg 954
3 BRUNI Loic 869
4 BROSNAN Troy 823
5 BRYCELAND Josh 709

Don't know what it would take for GM to win, but assuming they both qualify close to one another, I'd guess Gwin would have to have a quite poor result and GM would need to either win or be second. Hope Monarch is right and some sky jizzle makes things interesting.

He also gave a master's class on how anyone who isn't Gwin should ride a DH bikes. So smooth, in control, and smart. That guy is such an amazingly talented and wise rider.

no voice lol... were you with @kickstand at the beginning part of the track? we were watching the end of juniors/ beginning of womens at the time
We were with our friends from PA, they're blue mountain area peoples.

The only picture we got this weekend with a racer, this was about 5 minutes before the juniors went off, Missy was stoked to be racing, and banged up as shit.

Got home at 2am last night, scored a second place in cat 1 30-39 (only 4 people fucking showed up? wtf?) wife had a good clean run and was not too far off pace from the other girls (I think she got 8 out of 9 in pro women), watching the world cup and being a part of the crowd and seeing that shit in person is so fun I can't even explain.

Best weekend of the summer second year running.

To be fair thats probably one of the only tracks which doesn't suit Minnaar as it is so short. I think his only weakness is not getting up to speed quickly. In that heatmap-statistics by Dirt he alsmost always seemed to be getting faster and faster as long as the track got. Gwin seems like a more complete rider when he's on but I don't know if he will match GMs consistency with his strategy...

Naive question, but does anybody know how the XC race crowd was? It would appear that certain members of the Saturday contingent would be hard pressed to be ambulatory on sunday.
There was a fair amount of people still there. The ESC hosted the citizens race, and the XC race was going on, so there was still about 50% of the people that watched the DH still around to watch some XC racing and some more DH and or race ourselves.

I'm not sure how many people were actually "watching" the XC race ourside of the riders friends/family and pit help though.

Those points are still close enough that(assuming Minaar is aiming to win VDS) Gwin has to aim for top 5 Qualy and Finals to make sure he takes overall. Top 5 means he's still racing instead of playing it safe.
