*edit* I was wrong! Marc is fine! What are the odds that there are two electric motorcycle companies, both with a CEO named Marc, based if Soma?

Yup. Marc/ohio == Alta, née BRD == Redshift == electric supermotos. Mission == electric superbikes.

The Redshift still isn't available for purchase. Was reading about them somewhere, they got additional funding but a product was still vaporware. Will have to see if I can find the article.

Awww, I miss you guys.

Yeah, not my company. Mark Seeger is a totally different dude.

We're doing well and as pointed out above are now (and forever) Alta Motors. Bikes fucking rip and will be out later this year. Yes, I've said that before but that's when I was lying. Now I'm telling the truth.

Ah, but we ARE taking deposits which is almost as good as a purchase. Except in this purchase we get money and you get a spot in line. So really it's not as good as a purchase. But it only costs 1/30th of a purchase, goes towards a purchase, and is fully refundable (and we have actually refunded them for the two people ever that have asked for it).

The important thing is we're not funding our company off of people's deposits. Depositors are not and shouldn't be investors.

Sucks. I understand they made a hell of a product. I just don't think the market was right. People into MX bikes aren't likely to be interested in an electric vehicle. People interested in electric vehicles aren't likely to be interested in MX or probably don't live somewhere where they can use them. Lot's of electric vehicle fans in this town, lots of places to ride offroad a few hours away. The only way to use one would be to have a truck to haul one out, again not likely to be your EV fan. They might have been better off make an electric scooter for Toshi and his former urban scooter gang, and a not yet squished @'squeeb

:stupid:

The race results were making folks notice. Hard Enduro is nuts and to hang with 2 and 4 stroke gas bikes is a major improvement over gas bikes with batteries.

But the price made for a tough sell. At $15k, that is almost 2 gas bikes (of lower standards, but still). The tech wasn't cheap and the price reflected that.

I still want one.

I got to parking lot ride one this summer, I instantly wanted one.

But alas, I am poor.

Not good to hear the bad news.

Entry barrier was pretty high. It was definitely on my list of "post lotto win" purchases, but outside of winning something I never play, it was beyond what my wallet could handle.
